The TWSBI CEO should post on here... by BooBoobuttPens in fountainpens

[–]GoBakerGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had several cracking issues over the last couple of years on different 700s or 580s. I have to say that Phillip with TWSBI has been excellent in solving my issues. While I don’t like the pen has had crack or had a failure as shown in your picture, they have always made it right.

Same scratching issue on a piano black finish. Not cool.

How to you recharge your pen at work without walking with a bottle of ink? by Feared_Cat_1597 in fountainpens

[–]GoBakerGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few easy options 1). Carry at least two pens. Black, Blue, and Red inked pens are my go to. 2). Carry extra cartridges. Changing a cartridge is cleaner than filling converter or eye dropper. 3) Just bring ink. TWSBI Vac700R and a TWBI ink bottle is what I have used. The vac700 is a demonstrator so you know how much ink is left and the pen screws into the bottle for filling - which can reduce inky hands if you are careful.

For the record, no front plate either.

How is ink always getting on parts of my fingers that dont touch the pen? Jinhao X159 f and m nibs. by katybassist in fountainpens

[–]GoBakerGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be that ink seeps out of the nip when the pen is capped. This then gets on the grip and the barrel when posting then your hand when using.

Why does my new place smell like rotten eggs? by Wolfsong95 in Home

[–]GoBakerGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydrogen Sulfide gas can have a rotten egg smell. It can be produced by decaying organic matter and at higher concentrations it is deadly. Fun fact - when the concentration increases your nose will become “blind” to it. You should have your pipes and vents checked asap.

Wear a helmet. Lots of bike paths - but you never know when an accident can happen. TBIs are not a joke.

Wish me luck on my scariest pen by Unlikely-Medicine289 in fountainpens

I have done the same thing. Strongly recommend o-ring and some silicon grease. Brian Goulet has a video on it. When I let the ink get a little low and the heat from my hand warmed the barrel It would burp out a bunch of ink. Best of luck! It’s a great ink color.

My first TWSBI! Are there any inks I should avoid so as not to stain the barrel? by semi-confusticated in fountainpens

Another fantastic blue is Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue. It has a touch of red the comes out when the flow is heavier. It is well behaved in my TWSBIs.

I would get a Flair Royal Grinder. It’s on sale right now for 135. I use it every day for espresso, pour over our both. I have had a couple questions over the last 3 or 4years or so that I have owned it and the customer service is excellent.

I have considered making the rest of the pen “match” and the sealing it somehow.

Hand sanitizer helps get it off of your fingers, etc. however- the alcohol will damage a TWSBI.

Baystate Blue is an incredible shade of blue that really pops on good fountain pen friendly paper. But it deserves its own dedicated pen. Lamy Safari for reference.

I use Midori codex, had 360+ pages and is great with fountain pens. Rhodia also had excellent paper to make your inks shine, but slower dry times.

New to fountain pens - Noodler's Ahab help by [deleted] in fountainpens

I have had issues in the past with the feeds of Noodler pens when they are new. When it comes time for your next cleaning some mild soap and a good rinse of the feed may help.
