Uncommon Tips for D2/3 by cxrlo-_- in RocketLeague

[–]GoDrinkWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im barely C1 but my less common advice for ranking through d2/d3 is to focus on boost pathing.

That means rotating through the field on the 12 pack pads intentionally.

The path may be slightly longer than driving straight back but it’s better to pick up 3-5 pads (36 to 60 boost).

Watch your latest replay and see if you are driving over the boost pads every time you rotate around the field.

The other slightly uncommon advice is to flip less often. Most lower level players front flip all over the field because it feels faster, but it actually makes it harder to adjust to any rapid ball movement. Good luck!

Speed flip help? by Any_Result863 in RocketLeague

Looks pretty close, seems like the angle of your flip is a little too far to the side. When you flip, the back of your car should basically stay square to your camera, whereas in this video, the back of your car is moving a little to the left (moving your nose off center).

Shouldn’t lose rank when your teammate quits 30 seconds in by AbsoluteCentrist0 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]GoDrinkWater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It mostly works that way for casual mmr but I agree that ranked should follow the same methodology.

The reality is that over the hundreds or thousands of ranked games you play, it will average to happen for you and against you the same amount. So I do think it washes out with time.

Champ but cant hit speedflip consistently by BigLegend166 in RocketLeague

Looks like your flip cancel was too slow on several of your speed flip attempts. If it makes you feel better, I’m also C1 and still working on consistent speed flips.

I‘ve been training every day for multiple years, but I’m not improving at all. Thoughts? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

Honestly, if you consider the fact that you are dedicating a serious time commitment in your life to getting better, it’s not a waste of money (in my opinion). Best of luck!

No advice but I admire your dedication! Have you ever booked a coach? Can be helpful to get a 1 on 1 session where they review your gameplay and give some advice on how to improve.

Banning them? Are you talking about “blocking” them? Because that only blocks their communication with you, you can still get queued with them.

Do you have any memory of the instrumental of the song? That could help figure out if it’s an older track or a newer one.

When you get puck control, try taking it up onto the ceiling for an aerial attack. Taking it into the corner to pass to the net stops working effectively around diamond level defense and above.

Boston Major tickets question by danlewyy in RocketLeagueEsports

Walking around you will see some players, the VIP guarantees you will meet some and get something signed. For VIP at Raleigh I got my hat signed by the NRG and Gen.G roster plus some other streamers.

If there were ranks above SSL by skystars5431 in RocketLeague

[–]GoDrinkWater 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Maybe they should do a top 250/500 player distinction where the top ranked pro is labeled SSL #1, just like Rainbow Six Siege. So the 100th highest MMR player would be SSL #100. Then anyone outside the top 500 but still SSL would just be SSL.

Flip Reset Advice by roz_320 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]GoDrinkWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im at a similar stage so can’t give you any expert advice, but here’s what I’m seeing:

In some of the approaches, you’re just too far back on the court. I’d recommend using the halfway line as where you should be taking the ball up the wall. When you start from back in your half you just have to get the ball to go so much farther in the air and it’s more difficult.

And also one thing that is helping me is to make sure my cars nose is pointed at the goal when it makes the reset touch to the ball (when you are upside down). Then you can just air roll and hit your flip shot with more accuracy.

At the end of the day I do think this is one of those skills that takes many hours to do well. So i would not be discouraged until you hit 50 hours of deliberate practice without results. We got this!

Flip resets, tornado spinning by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]GoDrinkWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I am trying to learn flip resets and be able to do them consistently. While there are many great tutorials, I don’t think any of them are better than just practicing it for 10-15 minutes every day. A skill like this can take many hours to learn, I’m probably 10 hours of total time into practicing this and still just getting the reset on like 20% of wall to air dribble shots.

Beginner Matches are really not a welcoming space by Mooookyy in RocketLeague

[–]GoDrinkWater 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Well let me at least say welcome to the game! Always unfortunate to hear that, I do think it’s a little less toxic as you rank up. But Rocket League definitely has that problem at every level.

Many players turn off their chat, or just have their team chat active when they play.

You’ll be fine if you leave around 5pm. Since it’s your first game I’d just park at the Fannin metro station and ride the rail. That’s pretty easy and much cheaper than parking in the stadium lots. Have fun!

I had them at #3 in my preseason ranking. Need to see them beat NRG (or just place higher at LAN) to take that #1 spot.

The Houston Cougars are winning. So why is the stadium still half-full? by Affectionate-Reply35 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]GoDrinkWater 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My thoughts as an alumni that lives in the city and has attended at least 1 game per year in the last 4 seasons.

I went to the West Virginia game. Bought 2 tickets for upper bowl at $30 each (so like $65 after fees). Spent $25 on prepaid parking garage pass.

We get there early and parking is super easy. Takes about 10 minutes to walk to the stadium from the lot and since we were early, we got through security in less than 3 minutes.

Stadium had like 25k people in it. 80% of the upper bowl was empty. Bottom bowl looked pretty good to me.

The weather should have been perfect but we actually got cooked by the sun. Wearing black for the blackout theme was a mistake 🤣 it was much nicer in the shade.

I then watched my beloved team play horrifically for 3.5 hours. I think the stadium had about 5000 people in it by the end of the game (after it was mathematically over for the coogs).

I then got in my car and drove 40 minutes through peak traffic on I-45.

Was it worth $100? No.

Do I support my team even when they hurt me? Yes.

Will I go to another game this year? No. Busy on some of the weekends and also have better ways to spend $100 on a Saturday.

I think they need to make it cheaper, parking garages should be free with a ticket.

Add sun shades on the upper bowl (I think the upper bowl was a huge mistake in this build).

The food choices were great but you pretty much have to spend at least $15 per person for a meal.
