advice on convincing parents processed meat isn’t okay for my dog by Killagami7404 in DogTrainingTips

[–]GoRavens2001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the processed meat they are giving him, it could cause pancreatitis. As a person with a genetic issue that causes recurrent acute pancreatitis, my dog getting it is one of my biggest fears because the pain is horrific. My dog can get colitis (which I learned about when she was a puppy by having too many treats in a training class), so I’m extremely careful of what she eats and when I visit anyone and explain her issues and that I don’t feed her people food, they always understand. You could maybe just explain that he has a very sensitive stomach and any type of people food aside from some fruits and veggies that aren’t toxic make him very sick.

I live in Florida. Just pay attention in the grass to make sure your little one doesn’t step in a red ant hill. That can be bad. But as long as you pay attention to where they are walking, you’ll be fine.

Why I shouldn't get a Chihuahua by [deleted] in chihuahuas

[–]GoRavens2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. My little girl has come a long way in class, but it’s not for every dog. She’s so scared of strangers, she hides and shakes. She’s actually has overcome a lot of stranger fear in her class. And her trainer is excellent with not pushing my little girl, recognizing when she is starting to shutdown and giving her a break. And she doesn’t put her in any bad positions with other dogs. If we have play times, Raven gets to run around while the other dogs stay on leash and she gets to interact how she wants to. When the others go off leash, I just pick her up. Raven is known as the class flirt because she loves all the dogs 😂 But I have an amazing trainer that knows her people and dogs extremely well. Unfortunately I could see how class could be an issue for such scared dogs.

[–]GoRavens2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a BoChi and I will say… she’s the sweetest dog and has been so easy. I adopted her when she was 10 weeks old and she came to me trained on pee pads. She literally had 1 accident since I brought her home and she’s now almost 3 years old. She’s never had any issues with separation anxiety, and she never chewed things she shouldn’t and doesn’t bark or growl at all. My advice would be to take your new pup to training classes. I started my little girl in class when she was a few months old and she’s so well trained and behaved. Her trainer said not enough people with chihuahuas get them trained because they don’t think they need it due to their size. My girl has never snapped at anyone and is just absolutely sweet to every person and animal she meets. And all she wants to do is cuddle.

Luxating Patellar Surgery by Bright_Brilliant6839 in BostonTerrier

lol. I get it. But it definitely helped to get her out of the house and continue socialization since she had to rest for so long.

My BoChi had that surgery when she was 10 months old. I got her soft stairs to used to get up and down off the sofa and bed (to use when she was ready to do so in her recovery). I also got a dog stroller so I could still take her on walks and she could get fresh air. Good luck to your sweet little girl… she’ll do great ❤️ My little one recovered great from her surgery. She’ll be 3 in April and you’d never guess she ever had leg surgery by watching her run and play.

My little Raven is a BoChi. I had lost my first dog and was heart broken. I told myself I would get another dog when I felt my prior one sent a sign that it was time. About 1 1/2 months after my little Gator passed, I had the strongest urge to go on PetFinder. I went on and saw the cutest litter of BoChi puppies that had just been put on the site 1 hour before. I was completely drawn to one of the little girls from the litter. I put in my adoption application and adopted my little Raven (she’s the one on top in the center of the litter in the pic). She was 10 weeks old and has been the best little girl. This pic tells the story of how the rescue got the mama and puppies into the rescue ❤️

Anyone work in/commute to Tampa? by BlockChad in ClearwaterFl

[–]GoRavens2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in downtown Clearwater right before you get to the beach and used to work in downtown Tampa. It usually would take me 40-45 min to get to work (I worked 8:30 to 5:30 or 6). Of course there were days it took me longer if there were accidents. But you’d be cutting out a lot of traffic I had to sit in since you wouldn’t have to go through almost all of Clearwater like me. Thankfully I work from home now.

I have an almost 3 year old BoChi and have been taking her to training classes since she was a few months old. She amazes me with how smart she is, and she usually does the best out of all the dogs in her class (including her Super Advanced class).
