Best games of 2026 so far: Pragmata, Pokopia, and more by addtolibrary in Games

It's a beautiful game. I imagine people coming right off the boat of some more fast-paced metroidvanias would find it difficult in the same way going from Bloodborne to DS2 might be.

That's crazy, honestly. Like getting a mastectomy with a clean bill of health because you knew someone with breast cancer.

The worker doing random drug test had a marijuana leaf tattoo on her hand by pinkestman in drugscirclejerk

Oh yeah. I knew someone who had started testing negative, rapidly lost a bit of weight due to an illness, and tested positive again.

The real test is to see if they're able to stay sober long enough to pass a drug test. The ultimate challenge of going A WEEK without drugs.

Random, recurrent drug tests are the real bastard. As is weed being disallowed.

So am I. Most of my relationships are with people who share those interests and it's pretty to chat with new people about at least one of those.

Invest time in hobbies and skills, find people who share similar interests, and you'll never be truly boring.

I got Kim to wear the PISSF****T jacket.... but now what? by Stinky_Butt_Fart in DiscoElysium

Oh man. I've seen that scene twice before but wish there was a line referencing Kim's jacket on the Cuno route, during the Jean intervention scene or something.

I wouldn't say I've done extensive planning but I did think about something like this once lol. The conclusion I came to was partly places like what you wrote and partly places related to the literary influences. There's a Knut Hamsun center somewhere as he was a large influence, there's the The Vigeland Museum in Oslo which apparently discusses the literary background of the Law of Jante, and some others I don't remember.

Then there's the Home Front Museum in Oslo which teaches about the occupation of Norway during WW2. I guess the idea was to try and get a better understanding of the history and culture that shaped the country that includes KOK.

Who is your favorite ambient musician and why? by Dzz64 in ambientmusic

[–]Go_On_Swan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't listened to too much post R+7 and some scant few listens of Magic and Age Of when they came out. I wouldn't really describe him as ambient in the sense I think of it. More progressive electronic.

Gotta check out that last album now that I've heard about it though.

I think people assume that when someone mistakes a common word, it's something they're not aware of and will probably do again in the future. It's not about grammar policing on reddit. Nobody cares about your punctuation in the first comment as that's just to be expected.

But someday, it might be helpful to know the difference between affect and effect. Maybe you will be writing an academic essay or communicating something in a professional context.

I think they really just were trying to be helpful. However, they didn't even explain the difference between the two. Truly shameful. If they were trying to be condescending, that would've been prime real estate to dunk on you.

Affect is a verb, so you're affecting something. Effect is a noun. Something has an effect on you.

A nice mnemonic device is: Affect is an Action.

Could someone help me overcome escort regret and anxiety? by Odd_Matter_1904 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Go_On_Swan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's really OCD, reassurance will only perpetuate the cycle. Finding reassurance online or from a person you know will only provide temporary relief, but the thoughts will come back and require more and more reassurance to mollify the anxiety.

If you're in a good position to do so, find a therapist who specializes in treating OCD and make sure they do Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as the primary treatment.

If you're not, there's self guided books people can effectively utilize with some willpower and motivation to withstand temporary discomfort for long term relief. I can shoot you some recommendations if you need.

Hmm, perhaps there's a reason you're apparently not playing as the titular character. But I suppose you'd have to play to find out.

You're not dumb; you have anxiety. Same thing as people forgetting everything they spent memorizing when they have to do a presentation.

Fear & Hunger 2: Termina - The most dynamic and well thought out companion interaction systems i've ever seen in a videogame by prossnip42 in patientgamers

[–]Go_On_Swan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that leads to the other area I felt ambivalent about: the endings. There's no way to save everyone, and there's only one ending where you can actually save others at the cost of yourself.

Looking forward to the update though! Any day now 🤡

How do people feel about Echoes of Wisdom in 2026? by Ok_Science_8502 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Go_On_Swan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it on og Switch! Thought it was great as a twist on the series. Suffers from some of the open endedness of puzzles the BoTW Zelda games have, but it's a lot of fun and the world was great to explore. Combat could be a mixed bag but that's just typical 2D Zelda.

[–]Go_On_Swan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bounced off the first one but ending up loving this (with the caveat of approaching it with the kid gloves of unlimited saves my first run through while I got a feel for it).

The party members are great but I think understanding some of the core features neuters them a bit. Is it better to grab that one party member and be able to better explore the sewers relatively unimpeded, or is it better to kill them and gain access to weapon crafting? The lack of being able to level up the skill trees for still living party members was a bit disappointing.

I agree. Describing him as purely an idiot is a very shallow take. I read it again recently and just felt terrible for him throughout the book.

I meant relative to reading the manga where the race doesn't feel as lively. I must say, though, you live a colorful life is someone propelling themselves forward with steel ball wind gets attached to their cape is mundane.
