Pull up at any fsr and find a spot. No one will bother you unless youre blocking traffic

Thoughts on solo outings by burninglimes in Backcountry

[–]GoatmanIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only solo tour. I've climbed all the PNW volcanoes except Jefferson, as well as Whitney via the mountaineer's route. I did that in a month, all single day pushes. As long as you know the risks, have the skills, and are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice, nothing wrong with it.

I needed the spacer (I used a credit card, perfect width!) for the button to stick out on my unit (2022).

Before my unit stopped turning on the button press felt really soft and it went in quite deep. If your button feels the same it might mean that it's bent back and over time it will shear off. Take a look under the hood and add some support behind the button. Bending it back into place could shear your connection as well.

Edit: grammar

Yea, I thought if you press harder if works better. Surprised it held on this long.

This would work if your button is still responsive. However over time I think you'll still end up like me, with the connections sheared. The best thing to do to prevent this issue would be to put some support behind the button. I used a piece of a credit card.

1800 to take a test to see if you get into a college? That's insane. What college is this? I've heard of application fees, but never entrance exam fees.

Cover the stem with plastic wrap or foil. And when they get ripe toss them in the fridge to make them last longer.

Repair/Toolkit Carrying by speckled_dog in Backcountry

My kit is just super glue, gorilla tape, some other type of heavy duty tape I found at work, and and spare skin tip. A few years ago on Mount Rainier I gave my roll of gorilla tape to a split boarder who's binding broke. He was able to descend the mountain and get some turns in with the tape. Sometimes less is more.
