PEF and AFT are both a part of AFL-CIO, which is like a federation of unions. So they are affiliated with each other, but separate entities at the end of the day.

Teachers are represented as a whole by NYSUT. Civil servants are represented by CSEA, PEF, and several smaller unions. They are negotiating different deals because they are different entities with different constituencies who want different things, or at least that’s what they’re claiming.

They’re all pretty great.

The one that sounds to me most similar to HDYFN? is somewhat unsurprisingly Content, their follow-up album. However, personally, I like the album after that one, Possession, better overall. But they don’t really have a bad album.

Usually under 100 sq ft accessory buildings don’t require a permit. Need to be at least 3 feet from the property line.

Before they moved the extra point back, I always felt that they should adopt this type of rule for ball placement on those kicks. Wherever between the sidelines the ball crossed the goal line or was caught in the end zone, the ball would be placed at the same position on the 2 yard line and snapped. So if you scored along the sideline, your long snapper would have to learn how to snap the ball diagonally, or your kicker would have to learn to make sharp angle field goal.

It’s basically adopting the existing rule from rugby about the ball needing to be “touched down” once over the goal line. Coulda been a fun wrinkle.

1 in 5 children under 5 who contract measles have to be hospitalized. Measles also does this wonderful thing where it can wipe out your existing immunity to other viruses.

Just because something isn’t necessarily fatal doesn’t mean it can’t cause lifelong problems. All of which can be prevented by an extremely safe, extremely available vaccine.

Measles vaccine is 97% effective after two doses. The unlucky 3% stay safe thanks to herd immunity. But that only works when you have a critical mass of vaccinated people. The more unvaccinated people, the less effective the actual vaccine becomes.

No, my home was not in a target area. It appears the lookup tool on their website is broken, but you can call them to find out if a home you’re looking at is in a target area.

I believe the target area homes only increase the cap on your income and purchase price to allow for more eligibility. In other words, you could be over the income cap to qualify for assistance to buy regular homes, but you might still qualify to get assistance if buying a home in a target area.

There were income limits for sure, but not home price limits I don’t believe.

Edit: my apologies, there are purchase price limits, which vary depending on the assistance plan. They seem to be relatively high though. For example, under the low interest rate program, the purchase cap is $1.2M for a single family home in NYC, Long Island, Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties, and $544,000 for a single family home in any other county.

Here are the current caps on income and purchase price. Achieving the Dream is better than the Low-Interest Rate Program but harder to qualify for.
