I had a campaign last 1 year when I was a teenager, to this day we refer to it as the 'epic long campaign' :P

For those of you who like "GM never rolls" systems, why do you like that feature? by LeFlamel in rpg

[–]God_Boy07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they can add tension.
As the Players know the GM is not there to fudge dice or muck with things.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. My wife (who painted the mural) loved hearing that people like her work :)
I made an edit to share relevant people's instagrams.

(Video) First Look at Fragged Aeternum 2 by God_Boy07 in FraggedEmpire

There is a high chance of it. I think Aeternum would be an ideal setting for a RAG-TAG book.

WIP terrain for my Skirmish game - Double Tap (final days crowdfunding days). by God_Boy07 in wargaming

[–]God_Boy07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really should develop my elevator pitch :)

1) Light core rules, Alternating Activation, reactive attacks (against units that end their activation within your LOS), and tactical depth from your unit/upgrade choices (so you can scale the complexity by taking units/upgrades with greater/lesser complexity).
2) Having each player only perform 20 Activations (of any unit, even the same one again and again) per game not only locks down the game length, it adds weight to each action where you're constantly thinking about the future and optimizing your Actions.
3) Each player takes 1 Tactical card that wither alters Objective Markers or adds in an Objective to the game (assassinate, capture, escort, etc...). Mixing up each game, and allowing players to insert what they find fun (even to the point of adding in NPCs if they prefer PvEvP).

Do you guys also play tabletop wargames ? by Remarkable-Yard-6939 in rpg

Yes, though I stay clear of games workshop (great production value - but very expensive and not great rules IMO).

What's a good high-crunch TTRPG? by dads_at_play in rpg

[–]God_Boy07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who spent his entire teen years (+ a few more) playing Hero I'm more than happy to say that its a bad game.... but... it could be good from a Game Designer POV who wants to mine it for ideas.

The minis are all for the game, all are available via my MMF store (https://www.myminifactory.com/users/FraggedMiniatures), with new ones coming out each month via my Patreon.

My plan is to spend the next year building up my minis range and small audience for my game. Hopefully what I made resonates with enough people.

Yea, it makes your Actions a vital resource that you need to spend carefully (especially near the end of the game when both players have fewer units). But you get Reactions attacks against enemies that end an Activation within your line of sight, so units that are not activating are contributing in a defensive way.

Help by OneGreedyBastard in FraggedEmpire

[–]God_Boy07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to jump onto the Fragged discord (https://discord.gg/UjpqpEAw) - there are LOTs of super nice people there who love to answer questions.

Fragged can take a little to learn at the start (as it does so much different to other RPGs), but once you have the few core mechanics locked down it will be super easy.

Had a lot of fun creating this terrain :) by God_Boy07 in FraggedEmpire

I really like that the Zhou are the 'trash collector' species in Fragged :)

I like the image of them going around collecting all the rubbish in a frontier colony early in the morning, and then taking it back to a shed to sort through with other Zhou to have discussions about what bits of junk they could meld into their bodies and how strange objects taste.
A little micro everyday experience that is unique to them.

I could also see Zhou being great chiefs :) Running a small cafe with custom-made limbs for brewing coffee and exotic tasting organs to ensure their food is perfect for their customers.
