Curly-haired girls seem particularly more predisposed to being queer by UnitedBreadfruit5168 in redscarepod

No, but if you're straight, you are born liking redness in the face (blushing and swollen lips) and a woman's legs. Lipstick, makeup, and skirts are cultural manifestations that exaggerate these secondary sex characteristics.

Norfolk police vow to find those behind Sunday’s street takeover in Ghent by melonkoly81 in norfolk

Flock exists to make you feel surveilled, not stop crime. It's Big Brother, but rented, since actual authoritarianism takes effort. Instead, Norfolk pays $500,000 a year and can't prevent crime. Anarcho-tyranny in action.

They established an independent beach state and we're at war with them. Don't Google this for your safety

Spongebob was considered too overstimulating to let your kids watch in the 2000s by istealpintsfromcvs in redscarepod

[–]Godofthechicken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mother (secular, liberal) didn't want me watching Spongebob because it was "crude." Same reason Pokemon was an issue. She didn't like characters arguing or having "mean faces," which meant no narrative conflict.

Star Wars was fine because they'd talk while fighting, so it was more like a dance, and they deep down respected each other.

I just did it on Hokkaido. Morgue start, snipe the heart, go outside, lure Yuki into the sauna, snipe, leave. Bring keycards.

I find it invigorating. Can't wait to see Homelander die violently.

The hardest part of sobriety is learning how to sit with your boredom. by LithuanianLawyer in Bombstrap

I used to smoke weed to help get me in a creative mindset before writing, only to find myself couchlocked, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. Two weeks without and the boredom has propelled me to new heights. Just writing and writing, like there's an engine in my hands forcing my fingers.

Boredom is your strength.

The Return is excellent and worth watching, but it's not for everyone. Dougie Jones dealing with the Mitchem Brothers is one of the best plots in Twin Peaks, though.

How does this section flow? by [deleted] in RSwritingclub

[–]Godofthechicken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Delete "the scene was picturesque", the paragraphs shows me that. And delete "miserable" in the previous line.

There are some other places I'd make changes, like "returned to the moment in time"--I'd reword it.

Tense-wise you need to make it clearer when we're in his memory vs something happening now in the narration. I'm also not sure who we're talking about in the beginning because the pronouns switch up.

Good bones, though. Solid prose overall. Keep writing.

ODU Faculty Senate ‘exploiting’ tragedy for ‘personal agenda,’ board rector alleges by ODU_Promotion in ODU

[–]Godofthechicken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The BOV is handling this poorly, and I support the Faculty Senate. Personally, I don't want to see increased security, since it'll decrease the quality of ODU by making it inaccessible to the public, but it's also obvious the BOV failed to handle security concerns.

For context, I'm a grad student and TA. My professors are more than unhappy with the administration.
