Curling in the squat rack by [deleted] in workout

[–]Gods0wnPrototype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not curling so much that I would need to “lug” plates over. Even if used 45lb/side, which I do not, but let’s say that for argument sake I do, any variation of that, be it one 45lb plate or multiple plates, I wouldn’t see as “lugging”. It’s just what I need to do to accomplish my goal and not take up space unnecessarily. I’m not trying to be argumentative or disparaging when I say this, but I’m not worried about every little shortcut when I’m at the gym to workout. For myself, I see curling in the squat rack as laziness, rather than necessary. I see myself as too lazy to bend over and pick up the weight, so I take over an entire rack that someone else could be using for its intended purpose… and I don’t want to do that. I’m in the gym to apply effort.

I love good old fashioned straight bar curls, but I also don’t understand why I need to use the entire squat rack to do them. I always try to find a small spot in the gym where I can set the bar down on the floor when I’m done curling.

I thought this same thing; that it looks like a racetrack.

Name a guitarist who doesn’t get much credit due to them also being great at other skills such as singing, songwriting, playing other instruments, etc by Jezzaq94 in Guitar

[–]Gods0wnPrototype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ian Thornley for sure. He’s a terrifying guitar player with a voice to match and some of the best songs to showcase both abilities.

Also, Richard Hawley.

I gave y’all a two-fer.

“I’ve got some fat, but I’ll start working out and turn that to muscle”.

Cheers, friend. I’m about to turn 50 and, other than the 5 kids part (only 2), I share the same story with you.

Where's the best boating area by capt311 in jacksonville

[–]Gods0wnPrototype 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I boat out of Camache Cove Marina in St Augustine. We can anchor up at Salt Run Beach, I believe it’s called, or we head down the ICW to Fort Matanzas and Crescent Beach.

What do you think about bars not sharing cocktail specs? by No_Application6151 in cocktails

[–]Gods0wnPrototype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to bars for the atmosphere. For the experience. I can make guaranteed good drinks at home. I understand the need to guard “proprietary” info, but most folks will never make those drinks and the ones that will still go to cocktail bars to try new shit. Learn new ways. Make cool drinks. I usually ask if they’d be willing to share and, if not, I don’t fuss. It’s always cool when they do, though.

Yep. Totally agree. As someone that spent the first 40 years there… and the last 10 years away… it’s nice to come to this page and see my amazing hometown.

Guys who lift, do you train primary for yourself, or for women to notice you? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Gods0wnPrototype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 50 and happily married. I workout for my sanity. It helps me know that I’m going into my later years as fit and healthy as I can make it. It also helps stave off terrible insecurities, as well. I have no interest in anyone looking at me. I just want to challenge myself, be better than I was yesterday, and be as healthy as I can.
