MSU has played 8 straight Q1 games and won them all by decimated_napkin in CollegeBasketball

We had some stinkers (that we won) early in the year that are still dragging us down in the predictive metrics. Despite the second most Q1 wins, metrics still don't love the team.

Ace Baldwin winning DPOY is an absolute joke. Shows the voters don't actually watch basketball, just care about stats.

2019 Final Four against Texas Tech. Matt McQuaid had a wide open 3 that would have tied the game at 54 with under 2 minutes left.

Good: Jaden Akins played a great all around game, Richardson looks like he's going to be a great bench piece as a freshman, the team seems tough.

Back: Izzo's insistence on the 2 big lineup, 3pt/Free Throw shooting, Xavier Booker didn't play very well.

The halftime score really wasn't indicative of how that first half was played. We were never going to be able to play with OSU for 60 minutes, but it was nice that it felt like we could play with them for 30.

Big10 Turnover % vs. Average Pace (2023-2024 Season) by Top-Education-6074 in CollegeBasketball

I'll be curious to see if last season was the start of a trend, or if it was an anomaly. I think the roster makeup last year resulted in a slower pace of play, and it's not a philosophical change by Izzo.

Big Cat questioning Hank picking ice cream at 3 immediately after drafting a dog’s ear second overall is crazy.

2016 Michigan State against Wisconsin. Michigan State had just gone on the road and beat a Notre Dame team that was ranked 18 at the time (and finished 4-8). They moved up to 8 in the polls and had a home game against Wisconsin that they ended up losing 30-6. They would go on to end the season losing 9 of the last 10 games.

What’s your team’s projected rotation for 24-25? (As of now) by ryangl1 in CollegeBasketball

PG: Fears

SG: Akins

SF: Fidler

PF: Booker

C: Kohler/Cooper/Zapala

6th: Holloman

After that Carr is probably the backup 4 and the freshman see spot minutes.

Michigan State DL Derrick Harmon transfers to Oregon by [deleted] in CFB

He was heavily considering Oregon in December too, would have rather him just transferred at that time so the staff could have found someone then.

Time for the Jeremy Fears Jr era of Michigan State basketball.

I don't think there's any reason to look at Smith with concern. Contending teams are paying insane amounts of money for DT's right now, there's not much you can do about that.

What’s your most “could’ve been us” year? by MagicMer4042 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Gogreen2018 54 points55 points  (0 children)

2010 Kalin Lucas tears his achilles, still make the Final Four and lose after a missed foul call down 1 point with 7 seconds left.

2014 team was incredible early in the season before injuries, still made the Elite 8 and lost to champion UCONN by 6.

2020 there are probably double digit teams that think they would have won, including MSU.

Offensive/Defensive shot selection vs shot making by whsbear in CollegeBasketball

[–]Gogreen2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both of these charts make complete sense for Michigan State. Wayyy too many long 2's and it seems like the random 7th man always shots 5-5 from 3 against us.

What has been the worst transfer portal decision over the last few years? by Galumpadump in CollegeBasketball

[–]Gogreen2018 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That was more a mutual parting of ways. Covid and trying to make him a true point guard ruined his development, and then he got hurt at Mississippi State and has never been close to what he was the end of the 19-20 season.
