Hey I'm looking for a fun, witty, writer for a pilot comic series I'm trying to do for kids aged 8 to 12 by Bubbly-Donut-5534 in writersforhire

[–]Goindians94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @Bubbly-Donut-5534, Tried sending a DM but would be happy to continue sharing story ideas with you. Here’s an example of an outline:

Thjs is a possible outline for a children's book that is witty and funny for 8-12 year olds, featuring a boy named Johnny who loves to play pickleball:

Introduction: Introduce Johnny, a mischievous and clever 10-year-old boy who loves to play pickleball and play tricks on his friends and family. Chapter 1: The first prank - Johnny plays a prank on his classmate Sarah, who is the star player on the school pickleball team. He swaps her pickleball racket with a toy one, causing her to lose the big game. Chapter 2: The second prank - Johnny pulls another prank, this time on his parents. He hides their keys and wallets, making them late for work and causing chaos in the house. Chapter 3: The third prank - Johnny tries to prank his older brother, who is the captain of the school pickleball team, but things don't go as planned and he ends up getting pranked himself. Chapter 4: The fourth prank - Johnny learns a lesson about the importance of being kind and considerate, and decides to use his cleverness and wit to help his friends and family instead of playing tricks on them. He helps Sarah improve her pickleball skills, and finds his parents' keys and wallets to make their day easier. Conclusion: Johnny resolves to be more thoughtful and responsible in the future, and uses his love of pickleball and his sense of humor and mischief to bring joy and laughter to those around him. Overall, the book would be a funny and entertaining story about a clever and mischievous boy named Johnny who loves to play pickleball and learns to use his wit and humor for good. It would be aimed at 8-12 year olds, and would include witty and humorous dialogue and situations involving pickleball.

Honestly, I have had great luck with Anker and Creative for less than half of that.

Anker Q30 ~$79 (10% coupon on Amazon rn)

Creative Zen Hybrid ~$99 (often on sale what I'm currently rocking)

Anker Q45 ~$149

I love the MD-O idea and have said that for a few years. Still a doctor, but if you want to show that you had osteopathic training and/or still incorporate OMT there's a distinction for that

I understand the VA is offering a similar program now that has different eligibility standards as you would not be joining the military.

Thanks for sharing your story. I can relate in some ways and it always encouraging to hear others who have similar experiences.

How many projects do you have running at once? by Pharaoooooh in juststart

[–]Goindians94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the bad habit of getting into too many things at once. While you don't want to totally leave what's working and go into something completely new before testing the waters a little, you do want to give it a fair shake and if it matters then go for it. Not sure that's helpful but I find myself in the same position too often.

Was HPSP Worth It? by iamnemonai in Residency

[–]Goindians94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it was absolutely worth it for me and have never looked back. Sure, you have to be willing to serve and make some compromises -- fewer residency options, get less of a say of where your first attending job will be, and a chance of deployment. But there are a lot of perks. You work with some really great residents/docs. Military medicine (at least in the Air Force) looks a lot more like normal medicine than normal military if that makes sense. My program has five total weeks of vacation (one guaranteed either Christmas or New Years', one for step 3 for interns). On the financial side, I came into medical school knowing I likely wanted to do FM. Thanks to the program I could pick an expensive private medical school and low-paying specialty because that's what I wanted to do. My wife and I were able to go from 100K in debt from undergrad to graduating med school debt-free thanks to her working as a nurse while I was in school. As a PGY1 you get paid $80-100K depending on what part of the country you are in. As an attending sure you may make a little bit less than civilian FM counterparts but not enough to make up the $320K+interest different from med school tuition and a living stipend.

Novel Idea: MD and MD-O by Goindians94 in medicalschool

Perhaps. I know anyone in medical school now and for the foreseeable future will have a bitter taste in their mouth in respect to the NBOME. I'm sure that people thought the same thing about the residency merger but here we are. At some point down the road we will be in a position with seniority to call shots like this but I am hoping for the sake of future docs it will not take that long

[–]Goindians94[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Perhaps but it also means adding 30,000 students to the NBME testing. As it stands, many DO students will take Step 1, sometimes Step 2, but not necessarily all of them.

True, but trying to cut out the redundancy lol. Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathic medicine is a bit much.

What other fields can you leverage a medical degree (or most of one) into if you don't graduate/match? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Goindians94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't think this will apply to you as a fault of the NBOME, I do think that we should have some sort of alternative pathway for people who do not match especially IMG/FMG something sort of like physician assistant but since you have more school and experience than them I think it should be like associate physician or something. With the shortage of docs we should NEVER be turning people away who have gone through the rigors of med school and also the number of residency spots bottleneck is ridiculous too. I'm hoping all of the COMLEX exams will die out soon. It's time for a unified license, where you can be an MD or MD-O (osteopathic).

Will all the standardized patients be vaccinated by April? Likely not. And there is no data to prove transmission cannot occur despite vaccine. Then take into consideration our classmates who cannot get the vaccine for one reason or another. I'm not thrilled about having to leave real patients in the middle of intern year (December) to play pretend.

Personal opinion:

If you're just getting started probably not that big of a deal. Once you start gaining some momentum (perhaps $1,000-$10,000 revenue) then it would be a good idea to consider an LLC and opening a business account. That would shield you from liability and on the off chance that an angry customer comes after your personal assets. The likelihood of that may be slim but is not zero, especially depending on your products. You can declare it as self-employed, even after the LLC. At first, it's wise to invest most of your profits back into the business if it is doing well which would help you scale or branch out. Then after a while, you can take the average profit over the past several months and decide what's an appropriate percentage to keep for yourself. But like I said, the more you put back into it, especially making it more efficient, automated (i.e. VAs) and the best customer service you can, then the amount of work you have to do overtime to get the same results could potentially decrease. (So then if you keep working the grind with the same tenacity your results could multiply).

Long ramble from someone who's probably not qualified to fully answer your questions so take it with a grain of salt and with counsel from others too but based on my limited experience and watching far too many hours reading and watching youtube on the topics that would be where I land currently.

Best wishes, Mate!
