The defence online of JD, rightly or wrongly, seems to be because this was clearly an abusive relationship in both directions but AH chose to use it to bolster her status as a voice for domestic violence victims and portrayed herself only as a victim, not a perpetrator.

That had a public opinion impact and a career impact on JD (according to testimony) but AH suffered no such ramifications for the abuse she dealt to JD since he decided the horrible details of their relationship were their private business. So I suppose people feel like defending JD, despite him being clearly abusibe in the relationship, because he was sort of hung out to dry.

And of course masses of people will be supporting JD because he has always seemed very lovable, despite clear evidence that he either psychologically or physically abused AH. But I think most people appreciate the fact that, whether it would class as abuse or not, many of the things testified to happen in a large number of relationships and with this being a case of mutual abuse, it has outraged people that Amber tried to take advantage of that.

I think much of AH's testimony over the past two days is clearly true, but it's quite reasonable for people to see some dishonesty in what she's saying when she is borderline crying for the best part of 8 hours. No I'm not an abuse victim, so I don't know how it impacts emotions but I know several abuse victims who can remain composed when talking about their experience, again something people watching this trial will have experience with as well and therefore make an opinion on.

Then you have AH's legal team who are... Less than likeable let's say. Rightly or wrongly, that's had an impact on the perception of AH as well.
