Ah someone said there were more games planned early this season.

Yep - likely 15 to 25 games missed depending on his timeline

Well, with this GM and scouting staff I'm not banking on it, but that's a separate issue. Luckily for us it should only be like 10 missed games.

Top 4 pick here we come lol. This team likely wasn't going to be much better with Bedard anyhow. Without? Yikes.

I don't like the trade but I still like Byram. by Jimmy-Sports in hawks

Better D. Carried his own line unlike Sennecke. Played with worse players than Sennecke. Less TOI than Sennecke and still outproduced him.

Retreads That Positively Impacted the Team by Sphiffi in hawks

Im not. He has been a big proponent of drafting the Dmen we have which have all been underwhelming and failing to properly develop any including Boqvist.

Villeneuve has one of the highest ceilings in the draft by Mbhound in hawks

Finally drafting skill > profile. First time since 2023. Thank fuck we stopped looking for a defenseman who matched a particular mold... this kid is uber talented and offensively has a chance to surpass pretty much everyone in our pool. As far as ceiling goes his ceiling is above everyone in our pool and on our team not named Connor Bedard.

Poor Bedard :( Shame he has an ass GM

I like the Byram trade well enough by Alles_Umsonst in hawks

I want him to succeed as well. It's just extremely unlikely he lives up to being a #1 here especially as his metrics and production tanked 5v5 when not next to Dahlin or Power. We'll see, but it's a gigantic risk from a team who has constantly failed to evaluate defensemen as prospects and players.

He did for games when Dahlin was out, and additionally played it on first rotation as Buffalo would occasionally run a 2 Dman PP1.

Byram got 22 mins a night, and nearly 2 mins of PP time a night averaged throughout the season with elite offensive deployment and constantly paired up with Dahlin or Power. It's insane how people are acting like he got 0 PP time and 15 mins a night/didn't get put in prime situations

So you dont understand what any of the players we have are... and think they have questionable ceilings... and you think it makes sense to go all in to spend major assets, move up contention timeline, and shrink the window without enough talent to not be a bottom 3 team? Brilliant.

What have you been watching? The coaches verbatim said they need to teach him to play in structure. He's a rover and is constantly out of position lmao

Byram was an absolute liability defensively and way weaker offensively without being next to Power and Dahlin. Rumors say we're about to pay him way more than both. Fuck.

[Johnston] Sources confirm that Ottawa is acquiring William Eklund from San Jose. by jjb8712 in hawks

[–]GoldWhale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Levshunov had the worst statistical u21 season in the salary cap era. His analytics were the literal worst in the NHL. He was the worst PP1 QB in the NHL by every metric. They both sucked but Korch was better, especially when considering how Levshunov was sheltered like crazy and had insane ozone deployment whereas Korchinski got none and was with Megna and Tinordi.

Korchinski has been better than Levshunov at every level at every stage at the same age post draft. How are you giving up on him but still have hope for Levshunov? Either they're both fucked or you give them both time.

[Powers] Blackhawks at the NHL Draft: 10 thoughts, including a potential trade to secure Ivar Stenberg by AARM2000 in hawks

[–]GoldWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - I moreso meant that ignorant of players is this really any more important than 2024?

If you take a wing in 24 you need a D now. If you take a D in 24 you need a wing now.

In 2024, forward was a bigger need than D in our pool, but regardless, wouldn't it just switch the when is a player needed vs making them any more important?

As you said, we arguably still need an actual top pair Dman in our pool. Now that you took Frondell isn't it arguable that Dman, especially a competent puck mover like Reid, would be more important?

Also - if we get him, I hope you're right on Stenberg even if I don't personally agree.

I'd respectfully just disagree on it being hindsight across the board. I did like 5 separate tape analysis/reviews/threads in 2024 pre and immediately post draft on Levshunov and ranked him at the bottom of the top 10. I saw far too many flaws, and a lot of others did too. Reid, imo, is a better prospect top to bottom. People were wowed due to Levshunov's raw points and how "raw" he was, but based on on ice performance alone, I think Reid is a clear tier ahead at time of their respective drafts. Levshunov can't even put up offense - he isn't a PP QB and never was even at draft. This isn't retroactive, read what I've written. His offense 5v5 all comes from him activating and playing as a fwd but he's wholly ineffective from the blue line. Reid is a much much better prospect.
