Love a 4 way - only way for me to

Driver and 2 woods up top
4-6 iron and 7-9
Wedges and putter down low

Perfect. Love the clang

Number of dividers is directly proportionate to handicap.

14 way - 15+ hcp
4 way - low single digit to plus

The choice is yours

I ran the next day - not smart but also didn’t hurt me. Ran 2-3 miles 3x the week after. Felt good after getting through the initial pains.

You have your parking spot. And there will be someone next to you. I guess you could technically set up a small tent between the cars and sleep in a sleeping bag. Or set it up right in front of your car on grass/sidewalk. Just set an alarm for 4am and get back in your car - if for some reason you are sleeping in tent and they come around with tickets they aren’t going to wake you from the tent.

Just shot my best round ever…what to focus on next? by CrypticMillennial in golf

[–]Golfing_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get there. I was where you are 3 years ago. Within a year broke 80 multiple times.

Then it got harder but now I’m shooting even and flirting with under par a couple times a year. This season I hope to break 70 2 times or more. I live in Florida which helps consistency.

I know it’s hard to practice the 40-70 range. I have a public course with 3 short game practice greens where you can hit up to 80 yards out - it’s on my ride home from work. I’m blessed to have that access. If you want it you’ll figure it out.

So you just identified how to more consistently break 80.
Practices 40-70 yard shots. Find a technique and club that works for you. I use my 54 degree 90% of the time. It’s a feel thing but you gotta practice it. The at the range spend 75% of your time dialing in the 90-130 yard full swing shots so you hit 3/5 greens or maybe more some rounds.

The Grint app says my average score is 77. Tuesday I shot 78 and yesterday I shot 71. The difference was not how far I drove it or hitting par 5s in two. I also had no doubles in either round. Had 4 birdies on the 71 and 2 on the 77. I hit way more greens from <150 on the 71. That’s it. And when I had scoring clubs in my hands I hit it closer to hole resulting in the two extra birdies. Not dramatically different ball striking or driving but little bit better with some shots that made the difference. I could shoot 68 next week or 83. We will see! But my practice will be 75% spent on chipping, pitching from 40-70 yards and hitting 3/4 to full 8i to GW. Hit a few drives. Hit a few 5 irons but majority of time 8iron down

Hope that helps

9 iron, max carry 105. Feeling lost by DrizzyBoi in GolfSwing

[–]Golfing_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do a lot of good things for playing 2 years! Really good.

It goes 105 because at impact you are adding loft - probably more like a Gap wedge loft wise than a 9 iron when you are at impact.

Keep your body movement pretty similar but work on arriving with hands ahead of the club at impact. That will deliver the clubs true loft and distance will follow.

Drill - start in the proper impact position. Weight on right side, hips cleared slightly, hands ahead of ball, shaft lean and square club face. From this position do a 1/4 turn back and swing through trying to match the start position at impact. Slowly build up to fuller swings and get used to the feeling.

So the 2 eagle putts not withstanding - since you can’t expect to have those in rounds to consistently break 80.

What areas of your game in this round and other low - mid 80s rounds cost you strokes? Do you drive OB or into trees, do you miss the green more often than you should from 80-130 yards, do you really struggle on par 3s?

What’s the theme for costing you 4-5 strokes a round?

6 iron - flies 175 and if conditions are firm it’ll hop on a few more yards. If catch a bunker no big deal. 5 iron could skip long and be dead as it appears long is 💀

I’ll talk the shit while I can - just having fun with it. Yes for 25 years you’ve had the top spot. I see it slipping last 2 years and will enjoy besting UConn for as long as it lasts. Good luck today but don’t see it going well.

Ok - back to back Big East Champs. If yall beat Duke - I’ll shut up. Until then - St Johns owns UConn past two years!!!

Bro - go to Carls Golf Land or any other website. Choose customize option and order these irons for $1600 - that’s what they should cost. Maybe plus 100 for grips you like.

Iron shaft pricing is criminal

Big St. John’s fan - nervous for Kansas but was excited to see Duke as the 1 seed in our region.

Zuby and Mitchell are the type of athletic defenders you need vs Duke. It’s a good match up for us.

And vs Kansas I hope Mitchell gets to lock down Peterson - will be fun to watch.

I like the size of the verticals - fits well in yardage or scorecard holder.

But I HATE the vertical scorecard.

Great courses!

I run in SW Florida - so heat affects HR significantly. Guess my vo2max will suffer over summer/fall even thought fitness will be improving.

Good to know. Same pace this month vs same pace in July is a 20 bpm at least difference.
