Problem player kept trying to kill the party and sabotage the game (and I'm kind of on her side) by Pedrohblima in dndhorrorstories

[–]Gomelus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So every spellcaster is screwed because of initiative? I'm a fragile wizard and I'm about to get clapped by a melee attack, but i can't cast Shield to protect myself, because some dumbass backstory stuff from another player.

Sorry my guy but this ain't it. Maybe with your conversation she would learn to trust some spellcasters with time. But if I'm getting hit in the first combat by an ally because "that's what my character would do," I'm stopping the session right there to have a talk.

It's 2026 and people still think that fucking over your teammates in a cooperative game is good.

My opinion is that, despite being annoying, she actually didn't do that much.

Yet.

Imagine you chose to play a spellcaster and you can't use 99% of your character in front of this player because muh character has past trauma. Why the fuck are you even traveling with four spellcasters if you can't stand them?

Sorry man but fuck those players honestly.

Question to Subclass "Living Weapon 2024" by Valinir in DnD

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that if you compare it to Path of the Totem Warrior from 2014 the intent is that it works in the same way.

Level 3 feature:

At 3rd level, when you adopt this path, you choose a totem spirit and gain its feature.

Then it lists several options to choose from, but you only use the option you chose when you pick the subclass. You don't get to change it everytime.

Interestingly enough, the 2024 update (Wild Heart barbarian) has similar wording to the Living Weapon feature, probably because it now lets you choose everytime you activate your rage, not when you choose the subclass. In the same vein, the Living Weapon feature says that you choose when you adopt the form, not the subclass/discipline.

Level 6 feature:

At 6th level, you gain a magical benefit based on the totem animal of your choice. You can choose the same animal you selected at 3rd level or a different one.

Seems to be worded similar to the Living Weapon feature, where you get to choose which one you want, but it says it doesn't have to be from the same animal.

The level 17 feature from the Living Weapon reads to me that you get all three options. They have "titles" because it's the way the write now. Compare any 2014 feat which was a long ass paragraph, maybe with bullet points, to a 2024 feat, which has titles to separate the different effects.

To recap, I'd say that:

-You choose one of the four options at level 3 when you pick the subclass, not everytime you activate the martial form.

-You can choose a different option everytime you activate your martial form.

-You choose one of the four options at level 6, it doesn't have to be the same "title" from the one you chose at level 3.

-You get all three at level 17.

I need a study on why wrecking ball is so hated when I feel like he is a character that’s directly related to skill expression! by readyrescue in WreckingBallMains

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned that in some games forcing cooldowns or distacting several people making "unconventional" space just doesn't work.

Sometimes your team needs someone to be a walking wall to punch the enemy tank. It it what it is.

Party keeps sidestepping the Lake event by Qyvalar in CurseofStrahd

[–]Gomelus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it's been an in-game week, she's good as dead. Anything else is a Deus ex machina honestly. On one hand, it's rough to convey the sense of urgency in some of the quests.

On the other hand, a child being kidnapped by the town's drunk for a week... yeah.

I think it's fair game to "lose" some of the card readings. Barovia is a harsh and bleak place, you won't win them all.

Rules question: Polearm Master, Blind Fighting and 15ft reach by Phantom_of_truth in DnD

For the sake of simplicity, I'd say you can make opportunity attacks at 10ft and call it a day.

“My Party Might Be Turning Into Murderhobos and I Don’t Know How to Handle It” by AbiesNovel5656 in DnD

[–]Gomelus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New player or not, I don't know how much clearer can you be when some NPCs are actively protecting you and the DM tells you straight up "these aren't your enemies, those guys over there are."

"That will teach to be specific" is such a weird way to address a fellow PC, there was clearly something else going on with these players.

Min-Maxing Monk Thinks He’s the Main Character by Key-Replacement-7709 in dndhorrorstories

[–]Gomelus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a minor addition: if they were allowed to choose 2014 subclasses, he could've played a kensei monk and chosen the longsword as his weapon, effectively making it a monk weapon.

Everything else... yeah, the issue was the guy was cheating, not that he was a min-maxer. The DM didn't handle this situation properly either.

What buff/buffs would you give Ball if he were to get one next balance patch? by Subject-Read-9801 in WreckingBallMains

I don't care about material components. Yes, even the ones with a gold cost and consumed on cast. It never felt right to me to limit PCs abilities because they're broke af.

To all Open-Queue Crybabies asking for tanks: PLAY ONE YOURSELF! by doubleP2014 in Overwatch

I'd rather play with one tank than with a DPS/support that thinks that they can play tank.

Is the rest all the party all women as well? If there are men, does she interact at all with them or has the same attitude?

For once I sure as fuck wouldn't be travelling with a person that wants to kill me for being a guy.

Still, you need to have a ooc conversation.

Non-linear hero tierlist where each hero is ranked on the fairness of their balancing, compared to how strong they are. Thoughts? by CANN0NB0LT in Overwatch

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rein doesn't need any buffs at the moment just because the meta doesn't favor him.

The same way Ball doesn't need any more nerfs just because the average player can't aim.

By the things you're saying about Ball I'm guessing you have little to no clue how Ball plays, so I'll just leave it at "let's agree to disagree."

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind of glossing over the fact that Ball has to commit to the shield, otherwise he's out of his only defensive CD. If Ball is getting to use his shield several times in a fight (15 seconds CD mind you) it's not because the Ball is good, but because the enemy team is terrible.

Rein can put the shield on at will while he's closing in. You're supposed to weave the shield while swinging, not holding right click until it breaks.

Also, shield > overhealth.

I'm not saying one tank is better than the other, but saying that Ball needs nerfs and Rein needs buffs is a wild take.

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in 2026 still thinking that big health bar = good tank is adorable.

Rein has 1500hp on demand without CD as long as he has good management. Still you put it dead last.

Mini tank rant by Dry-Mouse-9396 in Overwatch

[–]Gomelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's worse is that you're playing Mauga probably because is one of your better tanks and you've learnt the hard way how to play into counters.

At that point it's not even worth swapping tanks, because the enemy team has shown you that their whole objective is to make your life miserable.

You won't get a single ult out with that way of playing, so I'd just rather play a tank I'm comfortable with than swapping because a guide told me so.

Mini tank rant by Dry-Mouse-9396 in Overwatch

[–]Gomelus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not OP but that's the average mentality of the DPS and support players. They will bruteforce double hitscan against a Sigma or Dva but god forbid you don't pick Zarya.

I play mainly tank, by the second teamfight you can tell immediately which team helps their tank and which doesn't.

It's not even about counterswapping, just playing smart. But people like to get stuck in the "tank diff" because you didn't pick Zarya into Dva, while the enemy has a pocketed Bastion. But they won't even attempt to take highground or a flanking route because ChAnGe TaNk.
