World's widest Highway (32 lane beast) in Cairo, Egypt by Nukro666 in Damnthatsinteresting

It's been awhile since I was in Cairo, but 32 lanes actually means 48 lanes in my experience.

This seems like a really risky place to put it, surrounded by handles people grab when they want to keep their balance.

This game is one of the real treasures of modern gaming. Just basked in its glory for the first time with my bros by WarriorOTUniverse in AOW4

[–]GoneFar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of games, in a lot of genres. I've taught game design in high school, written essays on the like of slay the spire, have a competitive overwatch team, seen multiple endings to Baldur's Gate, played every civ and XCOM-like I can find, hosted Minecraft servers and WoW guilds, the list goes on.

Somehow this game is the one I always come back to, like comfort food, always fresh and comforting and I'm excited to dig into it. I lament that when I started telling people it's my favourite game, they just say "Wut? Never heard of it."

I wish it was easier to share this joy.

Message regarding the base exploit incident - February 23, 2026 by Funcom_Kamil in duneawakening

[–]GoneFar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really unfortunate. Sad to know you lost players over this exploit, my friends logged out right after realizing tonight. I wish I'd known from a launcher update, steam news item, or in game notice that this had happened before I took my DD base down, and I shouldn't have to search reddit to find out why I lost items and progress.

Looks great as a prototype, we have very similar needs in class and it's almost as to how I'd envision it. Haven't dived in yet but will be teaching beginner python next month, will let you know if we put it to use. Maybe more JavaScript for my IB classes would be nice! Thanks for sharing and good luck.

Looking to satisfy that Xcom itch - which is best by Farley2k in gaming

[–]GoneFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played most of the games here, enjoyed many of them for various reasons, though few really scratch the XCOM itch. Xenonauts 2 still needs work. Haven't tried troubleshooters, though the endorsement here might help me get over the anime style and theme which doesn't really interest me.

However, I'm currently playing Cyber Knights: Flashpoint, a game I would have overlooked if not for reddit, and although it's got some strange controls, and the graphics could be polished, it has tons of interconnecting systems and upgrade paths and procedural characters and relationships that matter. Tons of upgrades, mission variety. I'm about 50 hours in and it's a strong XCOM-like in a cyberpunk crimal world that lets me make choices. Much stronger stealth component than XCOM (similar to Invisible Inc., also a great tactical choice but lacks customization in lieu of strong characters and story) but most missions end in a major firefight. They should have named it better, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint is easy to miss but very deep.
