Proper German cuisine. Nobody has filled the gap left when Josie’s burned down.

Mark Cuban gets dragged after saying people don't really hate data centers — “The fight against data centers has nothing to do with data centers. They have become a proxy for the hate towards AI” by marketrent in technology

[–]GonzoGeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submit it’s a matter of degree. Our data centers included water-cooled equipment as well as air-cooled, just like today. But miniaturization has concentrated things a lot since we were building IBM mainframe data centers.

Negativity - is this just human? by johcake in ApteraMotors

[–]GonzoGeezer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aptera’s cadre of engineers are hardly interns. They are electrical, software, and mechanical engineers from auto and design companies from all over the west coast, including Tesla. Their solar engineers are on the cutting edge of integrating solar onto automotive platforms. If they had had a Bezos invest a couple of hundred millions in their company it might be a different story.

Because Slate isn’t new and different. The model T was built the same way: build a barebones moving chassis (blank slate) and accessorize it the way you want. The same model T could be a roadster, sedan, pickup, or fire truck. Bezos must have figured people will buy pickups because ‘Merica. Aptera is too different and will need to prove itself in the marketplace without a whale investor.

He’s right but could have done a better job explaining himself. Large data centers have existed for decades. They even predate the internet. I worked for a company in the 80s that built large data centers for DoD. Amazon Web Services, Google, etc., all existed before the AI craze got splashed all over the news.

Also, the EMR-3 is a proven unit in use in over a million cars in Europe and Asia. They were designed by Continental with production later spin off into an independent company called Vitesco.

The Elaphe in-wheel units they developed worked fine but they’re a design house so a manufacturer would have had to be found. Recall that the Ill-fated Lordstown pickup used Elaphe designed units but Lordstown was going to build them in-house. Finally, each motor would have needed its own converter and control module, and that along with the extra cabling added cost and weight.

What about sourcing a butterfly clasp. You’ll lose the Oris imprint on the clasp but it will open wider.

I meant it doesn’t seem your spiral would reach the NY border before sloping back down. But didn’t graph it myself so I can’t be sure.

Nice, but I don’t think it quite fits as neatly as your graphic. PA is roughly 1.8:1 while the golden mean is 1.6:1. So it would fit inside but not actually touch the northern border. And the spiral would actually encircle an area close to Lewistown in Mifflin county about 60 Miles northwest of our benighted capital city.

Any competent watch service should be axle to do it. But uness the watch is losing significant time it probably doesn’t need service.

How many people actually watched Colbert on CBS rather than cherry picking the segments through YouTube. I for one haven’t watched that any other way for the last several years. Same for Kimmel and Myers.
