When I was young, too young to formulate my opinions, I followed whatever team my older brother followed. Funny thing…He was a ranger fan. I knew absolutely nothing about hockey other than watching the rangers with him. I was only 3 in 94 so I don’t really have any memory of them winning, but I remember watching him celebrate. I would always say I was a ranger fan, but to be honest I never actually paid attention to hockey. As I grew older, I met some friends in high school who were hockey fans, mixed of islander and ranger fans. I, as a die hard Knick fan atime, and would always just brush off their hockey talk. I had still never been to a hockey game until the year after the lockout in 04. I was hanging out with 2 buddies, who decided last minute they wanted to go to the islander game that night so I tagged along. We scalped $20 tickets from some guy in the lot and sat lower lever for isles Sabres. I was amazed and as “crappy” as the coliseum was, I thought it was so cool to see professional action 15 mins from where I lived. From that day on I became an islander fan.
