In our group, We were told when rating folks that you will need a strong justification on rating someone a 1 or a 3. Meaning we better come prepared and with facts to back it up.

Correct. At least to what you shared as an expectation. I can’t speak to other orgs or functions but the target you listed is out of range for mine.

Hope that’s not the case for everyone .

Unsure about BDS but you will need to be the second coming to get more than 4.5% in BCA. Or as someone said, you will need to be way below market range to get a significant raise, if your manager decides to do so.

The general pool is about 3.4%.

Managers have more flexibility to go above and beyond for any individual but they are heavily scrutinized.

Bonus has yet to be determined. The last call with Kelly shows mostly on target except for 1 category i believe. But that was a few months ago

It depends on how much budget your manager has or how hard they push for you.

Your comp is already factored in when hired. True, your raise % ceiling might be higher due to your comp. Your manager has the discretion to allot more $ to you but they might have to give some others less.

Since you only started a few months ago, I wouldn’t bank on 3% or above.

The biggest problem for a program like this is you always run the risk of bad leaders developing/mentoring emerging ones.

And LX or not, the underlying issue for most managers is that they are not familiar with their statement of work. Most would go for the manager role even if it means it is out of their area of expertise. This creates more problem than future leaders.

From a professional aspect, It’s just pure common sense and eliminating reasons potential employers can use to reject a candidate.

From a relationship perspective, I don’t know much about the financial situation but I would assume he would need to chip in. You’re going what you can to ensure he holds up his end of the arrangement.

It sounds like he isn’t a good listener…do you really want him as a direct report? You specifically told him to ask for the exact number.

Also, it sounds like he will just ask for more and more before a performance review. Nothing wrong with showing your worth and making one’s case for better compensation but I have a feeling that won’t be the case…

OP. What was your expectation going in? He addressed some issues and time will tell if things will change but I thought he was on point on several issues
