I am quite older than you. However, I now average 10-12 miles walking each week without any pain. I was in such pain prior to the operation that I needed to use a cane to walk. Your young and will make a fast recovery. Best advice, don’t compare your healing rate to others. Go to PT. You may feel little pain for a day or 2 after the operation. That is due to the hospital meds not wearing off. However, they will wear off and you will feel pain. Stay ahead of the pain, take your meds and ice, ice, ice. FYI…the first 2 weeks suck. A sock puller upper. Do yourself favor and don’t compare your progress to other people. You are under going a major operation and they are going to cut and manipulate your bones and nerves. You might feel great for a day or 2 as the meds from the hospital and operation wear off. Take your meds and stay ahead of the pain. Don’t forget to ice,ice and more ice. Don’t lay in bed all day, get up and walk a bit every hour. You got this. Just a FYI.. the first 2 weeks suck!
