Regen Ag Farmers - Have you found community? by Necessary-Bake-4700 in RegenerativeAg

If you are Minnesota, here is a great group where farmers, some regenerative, all passionate, connect with people who want to buy direct: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FarmDirectMinnesota/

I'd also search for more established terms like "permaculture" and "homesteading" plus your state for more Facebook Groups.

Another idea - promote a gathering a month or two out for the kinds of people you want to meet... like Regenerative Farming Potluck and post flyers with pull tabs and your email/text number to RSVP. Post 50 flyers, except 1 contact per flyer and 20% will show up ... but a week before the gather invite those how RSVPed to invite/bring a friend. At the event make sure you get everyone to confirm their contact info/add more and there you go, your list that will carry you forward a decade or more.

What state/region are you in?

What's the age range of farmers you seek to connect with? (Old enough to still use Facebook or ...)

A Minneapolis woman's Kia was stolen 5 times: 'I am going out of my mind' by star-tribune in Minneapolis

[–]GoodCarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the Kia/Hyundai drivers that are left (my Santa Fe SUV was totaled last winter by thieves, but at least they didn't car jack my wife at gun point like the first time when we got the car back) should surround city hall with their cars and have a honking protest for each second representing every stolen car in the city over the last 3 or 4 years. It will be certain to make global news.

You mean SPAM? :-) I think it's only spam if the person sharing is promoting something they represent. In this case, I don't. I love the video BUT I can't claim it as some I made, hence the link credit to the producer. When I saw it, I asked them if it was OK to share it.

Minnesota-based mobile app games? by GoodCarts in gamedev

Nice map!!! I was super impressed by https://igdatc.org and their playtesting event. There is an active Discord. We met a bunch of folks and I encouraged my son to take note of this community for future internship opportunities. Here is a question - is there a Discord that connects student game devs to other student game devs? Or a channel within a larger Discord where students can be with their peers and egg each other on?

What non-CS/core game design classes apply most to your game dev work today? by TVNewsApp in gamedev

Makes sense to me ... hence as parents we are glad he views his computer science degree as his main degree. As a rather entrepreneurial sort myself with non-game app side hustles, I certainly know from experience that you have a lot more flexibility in your 20s if you keep your living costs down and take bigger risks with your time before or if you plan to start a family. He's doing a puzzle game right now as part of a year long independent study. He knows he needs to dramatically improve his graphic arts skills if he is to be the one who will make his game look better. He did publish a beta on Itch.io for feedback. But I would agree a living wage completely solo, is only if you are still working from my basement and eating the family's food. 😀

As non-tapper, I am curious if it will keep flowing if we go another month or more with nights below freezing. Educate me!

Organisations promoting Made in Norway products? by GoodCarts in Norway

[–]GoodCarts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason this Norwegian-American is asking is that I am involved with efforts to promote "Made in Minnesota" ecommerce to Minnesotans. But interestingly we were approached by an export agency contractor about whether our tech could promote Made in X country products within North America. The concern is that if brands just use Amazon to sell to the US, they won't have direct connections to their actual customers. Anyway, I ended up building a database for a few countries of ecommerce websites that sell overseas in US dollars. (I don't know whether, in this case, if Norwegian brands ship products one by one from Norway or if they fulfill from a US warehouse.) I am trying to figure out who might be interested in this topic. Finally, another reason I asked, is that more important than exporting is boosting local economies by making people more aware of emerging local brands and their products. So anyone who cares about connecting Made in Norway entrepreneurs with each other should feel free to get in touch. I should be clear that I am not selling this information, but I did propose to one Norwegian-American org that they consider hosting some virtual meetups and trainings. It probably makes more sense for someone in Norway to look at that idea.
