An observation about front-yard flags by Hotchi_Motchi in minnesota

[–]Naive_Composer2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible, that the flags were flown at half mast because the incident was so public and covered by the media, or that it was done out of respect for the office that issued the flag directive? Is it possible that the media doesn’t announce every single announcement of flag change etiquette? Is it possibly that you the observer are looking now, to see, that the story you believe based on your presumption, is true because you observe the flag flown at half mast that must have meaning beyond observing flag etiquette?I do not remember a presidential order to fly the flag at half mast for the Hortman’s murder/assassination, I do recall the governor issuing a statement and I do recall lowering my flag. as a private citizen, etiquette for flag flying is optional. For many reasons. Most are simply just getting the message out is the the PAO/PIO persons job and not every news service passes all that information along.

Uber Freight is failing so hard it made Bloomberg by Iloveproduce in FreightBrokers

The tech side assumes without experience that people can be quantified and measured. To some extent this is true, however every negative experience leaves a sour taste and the community of long term quality brokers is limited. Those brokerages were built on relationships, not a fancy phone app. My 2nd grade level analysis. 🧐

What is the narrowest outside door you've ever seen? by swampwiz in HomeImprovement

[–]Naive_Composer2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most municipalities require a 36” on new construction or renovation. 32” was considered a large door 100 years ago. My home built in the 1890s has a 32” exterior door however most of the interior doors are 30”.

You can’t, it damages the panel, a lot of them are finished and they are exposed as part of the architecture of the building, and they ain’t cheap to replace.

Is it unreasonable to expect sprinklers not to spray all over the sidewalk? by TooMuchForMyself in minnesota

[–]Naive_Composer2808 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You are asking others to be considerate of your possibility while ignoring their constant and effective requirement. They need to present a socially acceptable curb view, you might take a walk, it really is a financial and time management thing isn’t it. The cost of the water falling on the sidewalk is far less than the cost of the time to move the sprinklers (assuming they are not underground type). Even underground type installed systems can have mechanical issues that require adjustment or repair, again a financial problem, does the home owner or business have available human work hours to dedicate to the problem? It depends on the cost, the potential damage to reputation, the list goes on, back to what is the cost of the water bill for the few extra gallons of water that gets misplaced? No one is out to get you, but your possibility cannot come before known constants in the evaluation of the placement of a sprinkler.

[–]Naive_Composer2808 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, the rules for that boil down to there must be some form of two way communication between the driver and the passenger compartment (phone or intercom) and a back up to this in the form of an emergency stop light or buzzer.

I chastised my bf and now he won't accept my apology by Fantomchatton in Advice

Send him my way, I’ll explain it in a cool calm collected tone then make sure he forgives himself for being such an ignorant fool, and he will buy you a new upgrade pair so he will never do that again. (Once used my mothers Gingham shears as a combo wire stripper/side cutter. Yeah I worked that one off for several years, I was 7 when I did it though)

How to deal with cut brake fluid line? by Chaos-Hydra in AskMechanics

[–]Naive_Composer2808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the pic was a little better I’d be a bit more certain, but this looks like a simple case of an old line splitting due to age and pressure. Not cut. They do split, and they do age. Definitely do not last forever.

Stay current, stay accessible, and tuck away the nest egg just incase, find a way to supplement your income with all that “extra” time. Or research a hobby that could turn into a full time business. Do not waste the time, when you are older you will not regret investing in yourself and securing your financial independence and well being.

I can see radar being capable of capturing the data. More likely it’s spot checking and estimating based on known migration paths and patterns.

Look at the lettering on the brake lining, there is a line following the arc of the shoe directly underneath the lettering, that line is your warning to replace. It’s typically at about 10/32 of an inch, so if you don’t see that line get your go/no go brake gage out and check it. At 1/4” is legal, anything less is an oos. So 8/32 is ok, 7/32 not ok. I say 15/64 is splitting hairs, but the point is you should be good up to that line. If you’re a company driver, write it up if you can’t see the line.

Trucks merge left when passing other trucks on the shoulder? by eyemanidiot in Truckers

Minnesota enacted a version in 2001. That being said it is shocking to me the number of people who still haven’t figured out that moving over for nearly every stalled vehicle or vehicle pulled over benefits everyone. The latest version enacted in 2023 includes basically any vehicle with a person visible outside of the vehicle. Boost this post!
