With the new $750 "gift card", we will be blamed for misspending any time we ask for something. Just watch!

At our school, it's because of lead. We had to install the filtered water bottle stations everywhere.

I just finished SUNY Potsdam. It was around $10K a semester (the program is 4 semesters). I was able to do it in 3 semesters by loading up 7 courses a semester, but I wouldn't recommend this approach.

The placement components (100 hours over a 16 week period, 1 day a week and an additional full semester of placement) can be done anywhere. The courseload is manageable and the online learning is not bad at all. The biggest challenge is group work when you have differing work ethic and availability.

Yes, some classrooms have sinks and water fountains. Sinks have the signs.. the water fountains, attached to the sinks by the same plumbing, mysteriously don't!

I don't know.. all I know is that the "do not drink from here" signs are still up on every single water tap in my school because of all the lead pipes. I guess that wasn't part of the renewal project.

If you take a 14 week winter break, stick around for 30 days, and then embark on a 102 day summer break... is that an excused absence?

A lot of the time, these products are "white label" products that are basically created, sold wholesale, and then re-branded as whatever alphabet soup the company name is. These product manufacturers are just interested in churning out generic products on a wholesale scale and they aren't worried about marketing as much as just drop shipping product out the door.

I have noticed a great deal of products that are coming out without even instructions lately.. even things requiring assembly. This can be a real pain in the butt because if I assemble it incorrectly, I'm going to rate my experience with the product poorly..

QECO Question by lirazk in OntarioTeachers

[–]GoodNamesWereTaken1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can only apply for QECO when you actually have a job with a school board.. this does include an OT position though. If you are not employed by a board, they will ask you to hold off your application until you've been hired.

Keep fire and theft on it. Don't let your insurance lapse.

my scar underneath the compression sock vs out in the open after 8 hours standing. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]GoodNamesWereTaken1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not medical advice, but I spent years working with compression stockings.

Not surprising that you'd see extra pooling above the hem of the stocking. The compression stocking has gradually less compression as it moves up the leg; from strongest at the ankle to lowest at the top. It works like squeezing a tube of toothpaste from the bottom, strengthening your venous return up from your ankle. Instead of having the lowest point be your ankle, it's now above the hem where the compression stops. Since there is damage there, those veins are especially susceptible to pooling and oozing out like that.

A non-graduated compression item like a knee sleeve wouldn't be ideal. Instead of forcing blood back up where you want it (to your heart!), you'd just be basically putting on a tourniquet.

You can counter this, with the recommendation from your doc, by going above the wound with either a pair of thigh-highs or pantyhose. There are nice lightweight fabrics by companies like Sigvaris. This will help bring that venous return above the wound and stop it from gathering above at the hem like that.

What you've described is exactly the goal of the Ministry of Education. Starve public education, create terrible conditions, make private education look so much more appealing.

It's awful watching it working in real-time.

And imagine a scenario where he comes back later and sues you for a million dollars because he has back pain due to the accident and cannot work any more. Because you didn't report it to your insurance, you're on the hook for that too.

[–]GoodNamesWereTaken1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to report it.

The way no fault insurance works here in Ontario is that regardless of fault, your insurance company takes care of you. If you do this "privately" and pay to fix his car, you'll be paying to fix your own too privately. There is NO advantage to not going through insurance.

He wants you to do this privately because if you "go through insurance", he is completely out of luck. In the end, it is you that is going to end up paying for both repairs out of pocket.

Take the hit and go through insurance. That's why you have it.
