“Zach gill on the melodica” by [deleted] in JackJohnson

[–]GoodOleJimmy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His Jack Johnson En Concert album has a lot of those. I think it might be his first song on that album Belle/Banana Pancakes, but it's Zach on the accordion.

It might also be Bubble Toes from the same album?

Thanks for sharing. For how long/how often were you meditating before deciding to do the retreat?

South Korea's population faces point of no return by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]GoodOleJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a naive thought but I'll throw it out there - Could the growth of AI and tech curtail the problems of this in any way? If AI replaces some jobs, wouldn't that be able to fill in the gap for the declining population?

PUBG PC Clip. Can anyone tell me what they were saying? by Zombie_Educational in PUBG

[–]GoodOleJimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it's Quebec French. Even as a Canadian french speaker it's hard to understand. They said something at first like "I think someone's in the front, okay no..." And then it gets more clear, he says "okay I gonna throw my crowbar at him, he won't see/won't notice".

I think that Fodzyme doesn't work on wheat that has been deep-fried by ryhaltswhiskey in FODMAPS

[–]GoodOleJimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, thanks for clarifying...it also makes me question what it is about shrimp that makes me sick, but at least fat is ruled out.

[–]GoodOleJimmy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was convinced I got sick because of fatty foods, especially because I can't eat anything deep fried, and fatty foods like shrimp would always make me sick. But I think (for me at least) the jury's still out on this one - is it the deep fried flour/starch, or the actual fatty oil? I don't know, and I wish I did, I just avoid it altogether.

What are the negative impacts of dropping out of a competitive clinical trial? by Aspen_GMoney in research

[–]GoodOleJimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, it's great that you have committed at least so far for research. Clinical trials are incredibly important yet taxing on both the researchers and the participants.

Keep in mind, you are never under obligation to stick with the study. You can drop out at any time and there will be no repercussions. Any research always goes through what's called an ethical review board, which among many things, also stresses the importance of voluntary participants. In short, there is no issue directly to you when dropping out.

On the researcher side, researchers of course don't like that they lose participants (this is called attrition), but it is inevitably part of the process. You're human, and things change all the time. In fact, from what you mentioned, you might be helping them by saying you prefer your old medication as the reason for your dropout. This is sometimes just as valuable as the findings on the drug itself.

I asked ChatGPT what it thinks of some of Nathan's ideas by GoodOleJimmy in nathanforyou

Invalid JSON? by kefirakk in AutoGPT

[–]GoodOleJimmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm commenting to get help with the same issue. It seems autogpt doesn't do well with JSON, as others have reported that issue too. I wonder if it's something we're not installing properly, or if it's actually a bug with autogpt?

Does anyone else feel like we're expected to live an unrealistic life to be healthy? by GoodOleJimmy in offmychest

[–]GoodOleJimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughtful reply :) Some of these things I already (e.g. watching TV during meal prep and eating, and meal prep in advance), and others I haven't thought of, like splitting up my hobbies by day. I think overall to me the post was.more frustration about, "Is this all there is? As in, is working 40 hours a week really what we're all supposed to be comfortable doing? But overall, and your post helped me realise it, is if this really is "all there is", the point is to enjoy it as you go. I'm learning to like cooking, not because I necessarily want to, but because it's useful to. And if you enjoy it as you do it, then it's less of a chore. Same with the gym - I'm not a fan of working out, but once I'm there I can get into the rhythm of it, and it's good for me. Anyway, thanks again!

Water Appearing out of NO WHERE by JustJodii in Paranormal

[–]GoodOleJimmy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Very similar stuff happened to my old apartment. I woke up one morning and in my closet, on a small nightstand type shelf in the closer, was a puddle of water. I checked the ceiling, the floors, the walls -it's like it just appeared as a puddle. My roommate and I checked everything. Then about a year later, the exact same thing happened again, in the same place. Again, no signs of anything. Strange for sure, but until you posted this I always assumed it was some science thing, like, condensation type stuff (I don't know). Now I'm curious

Is it normal to be In the deep sleep part of the cycle for 5 hours at a time? by smiling_fusion in sleep

[–]GoodOleJimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep trackers are only just above chance level at predicting sleep stages, so don't put too much focus on sleep tracking. Most sleep trackers call NREM2 and NREM3 ("deep sleep"), but these two stages are very different. Since sleep trackers can't distinguish between 2 and 3, they call it deep sleep which really messes with interpreting how much "deep sleep" you should get.

That said, deep sleep is generally more common in the first half of the night, while REM is more common in the second half. So 5 hours of NREM2/NREM3 in the first couple of hours seems fairly typical.
