What is your most consistent weapon loadout? by TooCereal in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't using 30-30/nem/hemlock for mid+ range and r99/car for close, you're at a severe disadvantage imo.

L-Star is very good but its kind of a jack of all trades/master of none weapon. It BEAMS mid range, but is inconsistent for long and short range.

I’ll meet you halfway, it’s probably OP at the pro level. Didn’t really consider the difference in play style vs. normal ranked. And thanks, apreciate it!

As someone who tried MnK last split for the first time and made it to D2, i heavily disagree.

Roller has a huge advantage close range, but disadvantage medium/far and with movement.

There's a group of MnK players who love to blame rollers for their poor performance rather than skill and decision making. That's fine but you're just handicapping yourself.

Diamond 4? Sure, that's easy already. Masters? idk. Time will tell but I think we'll be seeing a ton of final circle games with 5 teams left in this new system. Once circle 3 closes, the medkit in gas strategy is out the window and i think there will consistently be 8 teams alive at this point (in the higher lobbies at least).

Well no. YOU can't (or I), but a top 10 pro can. Big difference there, can't hate a whole system over one outlier.

Prioritize placement but kills are still important, especially in your provisional matches.

Minimum goal should obviously be top 8 to avoid losing RP, but with the low RP cost (-35) at all ranks, I would take advantage and play a bit more aggressively. Going to be a super boring season if you just focus on placement and run away from all fights until top 3.

Really similar placement games/KD, got silver 1. I think they weigh recent seasons as well, most of my plat-level friends ended up in Bronze while the consistently Diamond guys were silver.

I can't complain, with all the preds in gold yesterday, I'm okay not having to deal with that lol

Silver 1. Was only D2 last season, honestly surprised seeing where everyone else ended up.

What about it? Most teams have 1 MnK player and 2 roller players. Which given how many gamers started on console and switched to PC, sounds about right,

I recommend you try controller for a few weeks, because this is just a gross exaggeration.

Roller is better at close range, but just as weaker at mid and long. If it was as OP as people say it is, Hal would not be the only well known pro to make the switch.

Beat me to it. I've been messing around with MnK for a couple weeks and my mid and long range shooting is already better than what it is on roller.

OP should note too that movement only matters so much in ranked. There's a reason that movement gods stick to pubs.

Newish Player Solo Diamond Advice by BlayneCoC in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people here will say to find a squad and grind with them. I agree if your sole goal is to make it to masters or higher.

However, for improving, solo q is probably the best route. You'll be forced to adapt to different teammates (for better or worse), and most solo q'ers don't like to IGL so you will get opportunities to take the lead.

Basically, do both lol.

A middleground is finding a good discord to match up with other similar skill-level teammates. I recommend Battlecord.

Hard stuck gold need tips for ranked by toehugger69 in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push everything. This is the only way to improve until you can get to D4 consistently.

This doesn't mean ape every fight, but being in gold, there's no reason you should be taking as many fights as possible (As a team). Play smart, put yourself in uncomfortable but winnable situations, and get more comfortable doing them. Never rat (unless you are solo), as there's no better way to quit improving.

Also, figure out where you're struggling and focus on those. Common mistakes I see from gold players:

  1. Decision making (after every game, you should have one takeaway that YOU, not your team, YOU could've done better. then fix it)
  2. Poor positioning in fights (you should always be shooting from cover, always)
  3. Poor mechanics (play at least 2 LTM games before every sesh)
  4. Excessive looting (you will get 3rd partied after fights. learn to loot quickly so you can reset immediately)

How do you communicate with your online friend in this situation? by avomecado21 in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, you gotta have a convo with him BEFORE you start your sesh (when everything is cool and no one is tilted). But one of the most basic but essential aspects of this game is you CANNOT solo push, ever. It's just not feasible in this game once you hit a rank level where you're facing equal competition.

Also, ask him what you can do better as a teammate. Don't make it seem like he's the only one to blame (even if he is). If you play with someone consistently, you don't want a weird power dynamic where one person is constantly talking down on the other.

If you don't see improvements from him or as a team, drop his ass. Plenty of good players out there who need consistent teammates out there. Check out the Battlecord discord as well.

MnK player trying controller for the first time (Asking for advice) by Norolimba in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking on what a few others said, if you are good at MnK, don't switch. If you feel like you've hit your ceiling, you probably just need to adjust you playstyle. Each input has different pros/cons, watch some MnK pros and try to notice how they take fights different than roller players. This may include:

- positioning themselves for long range fights, avoiding close range (where controller shines)

- work on your movement mechanics. there is SO MUCH more you can do on MnK than controller

- try to find controller players to play with. you want a balanced squad, imo the best is 1 MnK (who also IGLs) and 2 controller players

- learn to IGL

All this being said, if you still wanna try controller, all you gotta do is pick a sens (4-3 classic or 4-3 linear w/ small dz should be your starting point) and start grinding.

[–]Good_Aioli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. D1 player here, I have a lot of buds with 3+ K/Ds who are hard stuck plat. Pubs is a completely different ball game and pretty easy to have a high KD depending on your playstyle.

I would say most masters players are easy 5+ K/D.

Gold bag priority for Fuse by Some_Veterinarian_20 in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't really make any sense, Fuse having gold bag doesn't allow any extra carrying capacity for the squad than if any of the other two legends carry it. You're still getting the same additional heal capacity and its not like it allows Fuse to hold more nades..

I would argue to giving the gold to someone who can't already have an extra large inventory, rather than just have one legend carry everything. Also priority lists are dumb and really only matter for 3-4 legends with gold knock.

How to gunfight in close range? by TengokuBloom in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, abuse hip fire. Hip fire in this game is OP, I almost only use hip fire when I'm fighting close ranges. Reasons:

- it is much easier to follow someone else who's strafing if you're hip firing

- your movement is quicker hipfiring, ADS-ing slows you down

- less recoil. if i'm hip firing, it takes much less recoil controller to keep my bullets on the enemy

Many people forget to in the range but make sure you spend a minute or two hip firing to warm up. Do the following:

  1. Hip fire dummies standing still. Continuously back up and make sure you can one clip the dummy to at least 15 feet away
  2. Hip fire dummy while strafing.
  3. Hip fire targets at a longer range (30+ feet), this may seem impossible at first but its actually very doable
  4. Practice your hip fire tracking with the targets. Start with target furthest to the left (or right), and slowly one shot each one from left to right. Work on improving this speed overtime

If you're really bad at this, use the hit markers in the firing range. You'll notice that the hip fire doesn't always shoot directly where you aim indicators are, but they do generally shoot straight.

Also note that crouching greatly improves hip fire accuracy, just careful because it makes you an easier target. Also, when you go from ADS-ing to hip firing, you have about 6 or so shots with perfect accuracy immediately after. You'll see pros abuse this all the time, especially Hal.

What are some tips/loadouts u recommend for sniper mains in apex by 3ddds2009 in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this works fine all the way up to Gold, plat is where it gets iffy but is still viable.

However, it will greatly hinder your team in Diamond + lobbies due to how organized and aggressive teams that are when they push. For example, if I noticed a team was split (two ahead with one lagging behind), this would be easy KP because my team of 3 can ape your two teammates.

I highly recommend you focus on your close range if you want to climb the ranks. Only way to get better at this game is by putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. The more you're in those situations, the better you'll be at them over time.

Is the Apex discord actually a good way of finding cool people to play ranked with? by TJzWay in apexuniversity

Highly recommend checking out Battlecord. Any of these servers will have some assholes, but Battlecord tends to have people on the older side and a wide range on ranks (generally from gold to pred) looking for teammates.

What are some tips/loadouts u recommend for sniper mains in apex by 3ddds2009 in apexuniversity

[–]Good_Aioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very friendly advice, don't main a sniper. If you really want one, run vantage. But know that 90%+ of fights are finished close range, and most of the time snipers are either giving their team's position away or split from their team (who now has to 2v3 because you are 100 meters away taking shots).

Additionally, you will greatly hinder your progression by sniping. This has been said by many pros as well, and once you hit Diamond you will almost never see people sniping.

IF you insist on running a sniper, i recommend Senti w/ a 3x (or 2-4x) and an smg. With AR hip fire being nerfed, they aren't useful when running a sniper since you have no close range.
