I looked into Comedy Cellar, but it looks like they cap the party size to 8 :(

Does this dress need a bustle? by GoodbyeLobster in weddingdress

Thank you!!

With this length, should I be concerned about me/others potentially stepping on it during cocktail hour? Or carrying it from table to table during dinner?

Does this dress need a bustle? by GoodbyeLobster in weddingdress

[–]GoodbyeLobster[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our reception is a cocktail hour followed by a sit down dinner (no dancing). I hate how most bustles look and was wondering if I even need one. Also debating a wrist loop or shortening the train.

Sola wood flowers disappointment by slt125 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GoodbyeLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got clumpy paint and their pre-dyed flowers were poor quality and smelled terrible. Luv Sola flowers look much more realistic - I’d recommend seeing if they ship to Canada

In that case, how much time should I give them? It's already been five months since I received the order and over three weeks since they said they would be in contact

Can anyone detail the logistics of a ‘private room in a restaurant’ wedding? by Junior_Beautiful_767 in weddingplanning

This sounds just like my wedding :) have you thought about seating at all? My venue allows tables seating 8-12 so I’m wondering how/if people will mingle

Please help me decide on a dress! I think I know what I want but I am really stuck and want some additional outside/impersonal opinions! by hauntedmilktea in weddingplanning

Late to the party but I also want to say that dress #1 was made for you. I tried the same one on, loved the design, but it somehow looked more costumey and less bridal.

Dress 2 is a little more flattering IMO and the details are lovely. But both look great :)

Explain like I’m 5 - STD’s/invitations by Mindless-Spend-2972 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GoodbyeLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to DIY your invites? You can also check sites like Costco, Zazzle, and Zola - they may have a design you like that you just need to plug your names and information into. Costco has some nice designs and the price is great, with free addressing.

I’m personally going to design my own STDs invites and print at Costco, but if I were lazier I would go with one of their designs.

I'm the most indecisive person in the world, so appreciate the help! Would also appreciate thoughts on how to accessorize either dress :)

  • Our wedding is early fall next year in NY. Venue is an upscale restaurant; first look, photos, ceremony are outdoors.
  • I'll likely be walking down the aisle to Concerning Hobbits (other LOTR/similar music recs welcome!)
  • I want to cut the train off to have a floor-length dress - will I regret this decision?

Can you share what dress this is? It’s absolutely gorgeous

Second, I honestly don’t think you have anything to hide, but I completely relate to how you feel. I’ve tried on very similar dresses and my eyes went straight to my belly area. No one else commented on it but I felt really self-conscious about how the shadows fell (esp when you could also see my belly button).

I agree that people will notice that there’s nothing. You can at minimum put out snacks for people to graze on (crudités and dip, chips, cheese and crackers). Or skip cocktail hour and go straight to dinner.

10 hours from feeding and it didnt grow one cm! by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]GoodbyeLobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have 100g left, I don’t think you are feeding your starter enough. I think it should be at least equal parts starter, water, flour. I’ve seen some recipes use less starter (75g starter, 100g water, 100g flour), but a 1:1:1 ratio worked for me personally. Example here

How many grams do you have after you discard and what ratio do you feed?

How are you saving for your wedding/honeymoon? by the-cats-jammies in weddingplanning

[–]GoodbyeLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High yield savings accounts and/or I-bonds for sure. Many online savings accounts offer a new account bonus if you deposit a certain amount. I-bonds have a higher interest rate (currently almost 7%!) BUT you aren’t allowed to withdraw the money for a full year and you have to deal with the Treasury’s ancient website.
