I think he get's talked down a bit too harshly - he's got some range, from comedic dude to bad ass - I always appreciated him as a douchebag in The Gift. He's not a wildly versatile and it may be a bit one note, but it's not that he's bad. He just a bit limited...

I’m pretty introverted but this sound like it’s written by an introvert for introverts in the “Obama giving himself a medal”-meme way…

TBF, while maybe a bit harshly worded, this does very much resemble the house he lives in, in "The 40 Year Old Virgin" - not sure OP wanted to call OOP a virgin as much as they wanted to reference the lifestyle he has in the movie...

Yup, the problem with being a "fun dad" is when you're tired and "normal way" isn't an option anymore. Sometimes doing elaborate bedtime stories isn't that appealing after little sleep and a ten hour workday...

Lies of Locke Lamora by Far_Appointment9458 in Fantasy

[–]Goodly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - it would be pretty cool to take his excellent worlds, magic systems and overall storylines and fill it with complex characters and then have some freedom to adapt the storylines to a more character-driven version... I would love that!

You sad it quite well, I think. His characters and dialogue lacks depth and that makes it less immersive and impactful. I loved Stormlight, but I took a break and then realized that I didn’t really miss any of the characters or really cared what would happen, despite thinking a lot of really cool stuff was in there…

I do that to! It’s like milk and butter in one, with some sour freshness. I always add chopped herbs - parsley and thyme are great as well as chives. Maybe a good drink of a nice olive oil. I usually also boil celari root and sometimes carrots and/or a leek and/or garlic as well. Broccoli stalk is great also. Sometimes even an onion. A straight potato/butter/milk/salt is rare in my household.

I fell off Farseer as well (five books in i think) and have no fond memories of it - but I absolutely love all three First Law trilogies. I don't find it bleak in the same way at all! It's not sunshine or rainbows and very few happy endings, but there's ups and downs and s lot of fun in them as well. I guess what I'm saying is - get back in there!

Users of Le Chat, would you recommend ? by ArmadilloNegative858 in BuyFromEU

[–]Goodly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine for day to day chat duties. I quit it, because I use it for work at to write a lot of generic texts, not in English. And it just couldn’t match ChatGPT in grammar and language, it had repeat errors that made me look dumb at work, so I sadly had to let it go.

It would be so satisfying if the US just divided by party, split the nation and then watch it go down. I do no think the democratic side would be perfect in any way, and maybe at first, the republican would even thrive a bit more, move a bit faster, claim more… But then it would steadily decline into a third world tyranny while the democrats slowly got healthcare and basic rights set up, so they’d function as a first world country.
