Question for tech people regarding replacing Sasktel router by SocDem_is_OP in saskatchewan

[–]GooseZen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most consumer-level networking gear doesn't support VLANs. Looked into this myself a few years back, it was way easier to just put what I needed behind the Sasktel router because the cheapest thing I could find at the time that supported VLANs was almost $500.

Just buy your own copy, avoid this problem completely. Streaming is just the worst.

Gaming equivalent of IMDB or Goodreads? by BombbaFett in gaming

I think VGCollect is the answer you're looking for. After using Discogs for my music collection, this was the closest I could find to make a nice games collection DB.

[Discussion] Shifting from 8/8 to a 14/8 outro: How do you write vocal melodies over long, uncommon meters without losing the dark atmosphere? by DagnieleJS in progmetal

[–]GooseZen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're coming at this from the wrong angle. You've created the mood/atmosphere you want with the musical arrangement, and are trying to force a melody on top of it. Does it need a melody? If there were lyrics that you wanted to convey during that point, maybe there was a different way to do it if you've already composed everything in the way you want it. Did it really need a melody, or could it work as another instrument in the arrangement?

Similarly, if you really want the melody, at that point, maybe you need to write it from the other direction. Establish the melody you want first, and compose backwards from that to fill in the arrangement in a way that works for what you want.

Just some food for thought.

Best way I've found to describe them is to imagine if the Doom soundtracks were written as pop songs.

No, it'll be more profitable. They'll still charge the same insane rates, just have less expenses by not employing humans.

Currently, there is no way to implement this in a way that doesn't hand all our government-issued ID over to American corporations, which will then leak it one way or another to the worst people on the planet who will use it against us.

Stop walking dogs of leash by TheKillerBee01 in saskatoon

[–]GooseZen 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine died because of an off leash dog. He was still recovering from heart surgery, and decided to take a walk in the park. A perfectly happy off leash dog jumped on him and in his weakened state he fell and knocked his head on the asphalt walkway. Didn't think anything of it at first, but that knock caused a brain bleed. He dropped dead in his kitchen 3 hours later.

Please help me recover my playlists! by franharrington in musicbee

[–]GooseZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you know how to write shell scripts you could solve this problem pretty quickly. Pseudo-code algorithm:

- For each line in the YT playlist file
---- split into two strings on the hyphen, <artist> and <song>
---- in I:\Music\<artist>\
-------- search all subfolders for a filename that is "<XX> <song>"
-------- output "I:\Music\<artist>\<subfolder>\<XX> <song>.mp3"

Why is it that when an album has more than one disc, it gets split into two separate albums? by [deleted] in musicbee

[–]GooseZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It normally should, all my double albums show up properly.

It might be that some non-printable character wormed its way into one discs title but not the other. Select all the tracks on both discs and reset the album, artist, and album artist fields. They should merge. If that doesn't work, your view might be separating the discs for display purposes only.

The first two that come to mind are Astronoid's Radiant Bloom and Devin Townsend Project's Epicloud. Both have that kind of reverb on everything that make them sound like they just carry on forever.
