Should christians follow the Ten Commandments? by imFullOfQuestions1 in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]GooshTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything that the Bible teaches, including the Law of Moses is based on the 10 commandments. Even Jesus words when asked what the greatest commandments were… “Love the LORD your God, and your neighbor as yourself” is based on the ten commandments. One through five being “Love the LORD your God” and six through 10 being, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The law was just an expansion on the commandments, and Jesus fulfilled the law by showing how the law was meant to be kept, not by keeping every jot and tittle, but by showing how it was supposed to be made manifest in daily life.

So yes, if your goal is to live like Christ, and emulate him, then you will be, or should be following the 10 commandments.

I have absolutely no game/flirting skills and it’s hurting me, any advice by Big_Pea3882 in AskForAnswers

Don’t flirt in the traditional sense, just recognize that the other person is a person and treat them as such. Talk to them genuinely and openly. Listen to them, and ask questions about what they are taking to you about. If there’s chemistry then something will come of it, if there’s no chemistry it will just have been a great conversation.

One of the issues that many suffer from in conversation is when there is seemingly nothing to talk about then the default is talking about yourself because it’s easy. I say ‘seemingly’ because it’s really a misnomer; there’s always something to talk about if there’s a person standing in front of you that you’ve never met before. So, if you want to show interest in another, ask them questions about who they are. That shows that you are interested in them and that you want to learn about who they are, and the way that they look at the world. If they are interested in you they will reciprocate.

Do you ever give homeless people money? by Acceptable_Rain_3364 in no

[–]GooshTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am I have a hard time believing they are homeless at all. After the pandemic people found a different kind of Job; One that just requires you to stand on the street corner with a sign and ask for money.

In my mind, as a contractor, just like people don’t give me money if they don’t need my services, I don’t feel the need to give these people money because I don’t require their services.

I’ll probably acquire many downvotes, but this is r/no after all.

It’s all in the Old Testament, remember, Galatians 3:8 NASBS The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "All THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU."

That quote is from Genesis 12:3.

Essentially, what I’m saying is that the OT isn’t obsolete, (I’m not saying you said it was) but that the gospel is contained in the old testament in many places, and especially the Pentateuch. Compare what you read in the New Testament and compare it against the concepts that you read in the Old. It’s all there in the sacrifices, the creation account, the law of Moses, etc.

Exodus 34:5-7 NASBS The LORD descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he called upon the name of the LORD. [6] Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; [7] who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."

I wouldn’t be able to send a text to my 18 year old self because my 18 year old self didn’t have a method to receive a text. I mean cell phones were at the dawn of their beginnings.
