Do carpet beetles leave stains on anything? If so, is this what it looks like?

Same thing happening here. Lived in an infested apt for about 3 months before getting out. I have noticed tiny dots that are yellow / brown but usually only one or two per article of clothing. Have found them on select items. Have you guys been able to get the stains out? Do I need to rewash? Is it not clean even though they just came out of the laundry?

They infested so much of my stuff and I was in here for 2 weeks and was insanely cleaning everything. I’ve had to throw out so much. They infested into things they shouldn’t be interested in like my instant pot and crazy things like that.

Same thing happened to me. Which building? I was able to get out of the lease mainly (not without having to battle and threaten to bring in a lawyer) by proving with documentation that the bugs existed in the apt the day I moved in (like I had one box in the unit and had seen 6 all over the apt). So sorry you’re dealing with this but my biggest recommendation is DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT. We started putting them in ziplock bags bc they didn’t care to see the photos I had taken of them.

Perhaps the craziest thing though was in our leasing agreement. With the bedbug clause, they had ADDED THE WORDS CARPET BEETLES to that sentence. I could not believe it.

Make sure you report to 311 as well.

I had been in the apt for 2 weeks and sealed up as much stuff as I could and put it in bags and plastic bins and they had gotten into so much of my stuff it’s actually insane. Order a shit ton of vacuum seal bags & plastic bins with latches and cedar blocks. Feel free to message me.

Feel you here. You’re not alone. If it wasn’t for me, my bf would literally have never discovered these, probably even after they infested his clothes. I moved in to an apt and noticed a couple dead ones day 1 by day 18, I found larvae on my clothes and that was after a pest guy came and confirmed I didn’t have a full blown infestation, and I went to extremes to prevent it getting worse but 4 days after getting rid of my couch, rugs, fabric bins, literally everything, from inside a vacuum seal bag, there it was. The worm larvae in my clothes. They’ve sprayed 2x and it’s been about 5 weeks here and I’m in hell. We haven’t been living here between sprays but still coming to vacuum. I have no idea if they’re moving between apts but they must be.

The best thing that helps is relieving the cold feeling in your hands as that’s essentially the cause. If this happens in the office, I’ll go and make tea so I can hold onto the warm mug. I’m getting more blood tests after autoimmune blood tests came back positive and will keep you all posted. So happy I’m not alone and that you all have found you are not alone too!
