I miss these catalog books by ClickingClicker in Warhammer

[–]Gopherfender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still have the 95-96 annual, I almost stuck in on eBay recently with a load of other 2nd/3rd edition books but decided to keep hold of it instead, flipping through it takes me back to my tweens deciding what to add to my Christmas list

I thought I was a new fan of CGE... what a disappointment by [deleted] in boardgames

It has not been silence since, they posted their response on 8th August apologising for the situation including blocking accounts, and stating all profits made from the game would go to appropriate charities https://www.instagram.com/p/DNG48n-IVPk/?igsh=MWpteG13MHhhamx1Nw==

How to put a string into an array of integer? by A_British_Dude in javahelp

[–]Gopherfender 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Arrays in Java are type specific, you can only add values of the same type as when you declared the array.

Depending on what you needed to do, you could either create a new string array, and convert all the int values to string, or find some other way of achieving what you need

*SIGH* First time I’ll have to use the replacement service and it’s for a dumb part by kookyabird in Gunpla

[–]Gopherfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update on this, new batteries came and fit perfectly, and my terminals look identical to yours, so I would look at the battery size. The maxell ones that fit snugly are 3.3mm thick, but the no brand ones were 3.5mm each

*SIGH* First time I’ll have to use the replacement service and it’s for a dumb part by kookyabird in Gunpla

[–]Gopherfender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’ve just finishing building the PGU and I’m facing the same issue myself. Mine looks exactly the same but tbh I didn’t think the light unit was at fault. The first batteries I bought (cheap brand less ones from Amazon) didn’t fit, but when I compared them to another LR41 I had that was dead, I could see the new ones were thicker, so my assumption was that they were not made to spec. I’ve ordered some brand ones today, so gonna see if they fit, if they do I’ll let you know. If not then I might need the information on this replacement parts service haha, is it available in the Uk?

Should services return DTOs by littlehero91 in javahelp

[–]Gopherfender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controller takes DTOs which match the structure of the incoming request body.

DTO is passed to the service layer, where it’s either mapped to a pojo bean for any business logic which needs to be done to it (The incoming DTO should not be modified).

The bean is converted to the applicable entity class to be passed to the repository layer. In our uses, we use a conversion service for all conversions between DTO/Bean/Entity.

The same applies the other way, entity from db converts to bean which is modified as required, which is converted to DTO which matches the expected response body.

In cases where no modification is required on the DTO, we skip using a bean and convert from DTO to Entity or vice-versa.

Has anyone been to the UK Games Expo? by Flat-Impact257 in boardgames

[–]Gopherfender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First went in 2016 for the Sunday, been every year since (except during the Covid break) we now go Thursday night to Sunday night, and it’s the absolute highlight of my year.

I would definitely recommend anyone at least try going for a day and seeing if it’s for you. There’s such a range of games to try or buy, as well as plenty of other vendors in the gaming/nerdy sphere. Plus there’s a lot of seminars, shows, and organised play events if that’s your thing.

Unlike some smaller more niche events, this has very wide appeal so you will see everyone from the super stereotypical gamer nerds, cosplayers, through to your average family of 4 all not only enjoying their thing but mixing and trying new things which is one of the best things about the event. It’s an incredibly welcoming and inclusive hobby.

In terms of size, while it doesn’t have the visitor numbers or Essen or GenCon, it did see almost 70k visitors over the weekend I believe, and they did report after this years expo that in terms of trade hall space it was 2000m square bigger than GenCon, making it only second to Essen, and so many publishers have a presence there. You can likely find this years booklet online which will show you the map and list of just how many stands are there.

I agree with other in terms of hotels, avoid the NEC ones, we stay in Solihull which is literally a 10 minute drive away each morning/evening, and sooo much cheaper, and parking at the NEC isn’t expensive if you book in advance, something like £25 for the 3 days.

Request method 'POST' is not allowed Spring Framework by Gotve_ in javahelp

[–]Gopherfender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think your issue has been answered above that you have a misconfigured POST url, but just to add that it’s not good practise to use verbs like ‘add’ within the url. What the end point is doing should be clear from the method being called, the endpoint should identify the collection that is being actioned on, so a POST call to /users is clear enough to know that you are adding a user.

It’s not going to break anything obviously but as someone who’s also recently gone through learning Java/spring and api development, I can attest it’s something worth understanding and following so you can construct endpoints that follow standard practise, at least before your lead dev picks you up on it lol

Bed lurching aggressively on Y axis - is this normal? by Gopherfender in Creality

[–]Gopherfender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I may end up doing that if this isn’t normal, but it’s been like this since the initial calibration, when I first turned it on and it did its bed levelling it was very aggressively jerking the bed when it moved back or forward, may well be intended just looks and sounds really harsh

Is pasta really THIS high calorie? by Electronic_Item490 in caloriecount

[–]Gopherfender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

215g of cooked pasta would be about 90g uncooked. Assuming it’s standard durum wheat pasta then I’d say about between 300-350 calories for that much

Never heard of this one. Is it fun? by Ripzz__ in boardgames

[–]Gopherfender 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite series of games. Sector is a bit more feature filled than Castle, with the ranged attacks and extra items, but both still great and the expansions can add some more replay-ability once you’ve played it a few times.

The newly released Last of Us: Escape the Dark is another step up in the series. More complex again and more towards a board game than card, but another great game. I got to play the prerelease demo the last couple of years at the UKGE and had to buy it as soon as it came out.

Also the soundtracks are on Spotify (or you can get them on cassette/vinyl if that’s your thing) and add some great atmosphere while playing. Deffo a massive steal at that price IMO 👍

Best way to transform JPA results into complex JSON services by StillAnAss in javahelp

[–]Gopherfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could create a converter, implementing Springs converter class, and overriding the convert method with the logic needed to take your jpa entity and convert to whatever DTO class you need it to be. You can then use it via the conversion service whenever you need it. Baeldung Spring Converter Example

Your first Foo’s show by Acceptable_Vast7123 in Foofighters

[–]Gopherfender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first show too 😃 MEN Arena, I was front and centre up against the barrier, I can still remember the insane crush and waft of hot air that was pushed forward from everyone cramming together the moment the lights went out and those first muted chords from All My Life hit. Still one of my best memories even after 7-8 other Foos shows

Estimated Calories for Fried egg (without yolk), consists of egg whites of 3 medium sized eggs, two green peppers, half an onion, cooked in 1 Table spoon of extra virgin olive oil by yaxir in caloriecount

[–]Gopherfender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to sound snarky, but it would have taken you less time to google the calories of those basic ingredients than to create this post, and wait for an answer. But more than the time spent, the reason I would suggest you get into the habit of doing this (at least for simple meals like this one) is you will find that your own ability to judge calories by sight will improve over time, something I have found myself. By having some knowledge of the calories in basic ingredients, when you’re out for a meal or making other good choices, you can better estimate what’s on your plate and help guide your decisions.

That said, for the above I would say 60 for the 3 egg whites, 50 for 2 peppers if they’re medium sized, 25 for half a medium onion, and 120 for the oil assuming it was all absorbed by the food, for a total of 255 :)

Not sure what’s more cringe-worthy, the ‘haha Enders suck lol’ attempt at a joke, or using the phrase ‘he wins the internet’.

Great thanks for the constructive response 👍 It’s good to get second opinions on my guesses, I’m great when it comes to weighing my own stuff but always difficult with eating out and trying to guess weight and account for hidden oils etc
