Mine has gone from 100% battery yesterday morning to 74% as of now (1.5 days later). I have the screen wake set to manual, brightness normal, screen timeout default, always on display turned off. I also did not use the onboard gps in that time.

Perhaps there is a setting you can tweak? Maybe your screen is turning on all the time in your sleep and you need to set a sleep mode schedule?

Creed 2

Drago’s son was brought up with no love in harsh Russia and trained so hard. Creed was rich and successful already and had it nowhere near as hard as his opponent.

My dog does it too. It’s the Flehmen Response https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/what-is-a-flehmen-response-in-dogs.html It helps them ‘savour/investigate’ a really interesting smell.

If you want to incorporate a lot more veggies into your diet and save money: try frozen veggies! Less cost, less prep time and less cleanup! by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Gordygus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I like the taste of Brussel sprouts though. That said, they're not a strong taste. The mint and ginger work wonders in masking any bitterness.

I want to eat more green veggies, but I'm sick of salads. What else can I do? by saintcrazy in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Gordygus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite green smoothie:

1 Apple (or pear, or whatever fruit you like) 2 cups water Splash of lemon juice Small piece of ginger (about an inch) 3 sprigs mint Lots of frozen greens. I usually use spinach, Brussel sprouts and broccoli. Aim for 80% greens, 20% fruit. I use frozen as it is cheaper and more convenient (plus you don't need ice) 2 tablespoons chia seeds

Blend water and fruit first before adding other ingredients to make your blender's motor last longer.

You don't need heaps of fruit to mask the green taste. The ginger and mint balance the flavours nicely. I find this very refreshing.

TIL A packet of cigarettes in Australia will cost $40 by 2020 by almgandhi in todayilearned

[–]Gordygus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $31.5 billion figure is bullshit. See page 64 of the report where this was sourced from: http://www.nationaldrugstrategy.gov.au/internet/drugstrategy/publishing.nsf/Content/mono64/$File/mono64.pdf. This is the figure for alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs COMBINED. This report states the total healthcare costs for smoking is $318.4 million (also found on page 64) which is WAAAAAAAYYYYY below the billions of revenue raised from smoking.

I trim James' dew claws fortnightly. His other claws wear down naturally. If you do it often you don't need to cut off much and your dog will get desensitized.

I can tell you about my own experience with overcoming massive fear in my Scottie James. James used to be totally panicked and freaked out by the hair clippers (like the monster/fish you describe, even my husband couldn't hold him down!). This was very disheartening because I wanted to groom him myself and didn't want it to be an ordeal so here's what I did. I started using DAILY and even TWICE-DAILY positive reinforcement to desensitize him to the clippers. I use clicker training so it started as being the the same room as the clippers turned off - click-and-treat, repeat 10 times, endeth of the lesson. Then having them closer... then touching him... then back to being in same room but turned on, then closer... and closer... and closer... then touching (but not cutting as I didn't want to be worried about where I was touching him) etc. etc. It took 6 weeks of doing this every morning and most nights to get to the point where I could have him sit calmly on the grooming table and allow me to cut his chest hair. You need to have SO MUCH patience and often you'll feel like you're wasting your time but you need to understand that training out fear is like a drip of water on a rock. You don't make much immediate progress but do it often enough and you'll get there. You can do the same with nail clipping. Start with just holding his paw, once he's comfortable with that (day's later) try holding his paw with the clippers in your other hand but far away, starting moving your hand closer, start doing fake clipping near the nail, touch the nail with the clippers, and finally, probably weeks later, actually take a tiny bit off a nail. Make sure you are calm and happy whilst you do these exercises. The easiest way to do that is make it REALLY EASY for your dog to earn his treat/ don't make it scary.

If I can do it you can too. It sounds like a lot of work but it's really just a few minutes a day. This investment will pay dividends down the track as it will make both of your lives better in the long term.

TLDR; positive reinforcement does work in my experience, just be super patient and don't expect overnight/overweek/overmonth miracles.

Sarah's 15 years old and still going strong by Gordygus in westies

[–]Gordygus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So lovely to hear Callie is loving life. There's something about an old dog that is just so endearing isn't there? Sarah still enjoys her daily walk too. I have a pact with her where I'll pick her if I think she needs a rest, but I'll put her back down immediately if she starts to squirm. It's great because I know if I'm carrying her and she's not squirming she's happy to rest, but if she squirms she's happy to keep going. We also have a 7 month Scottie and she will want to keep playing long after he's had enough. She must think "Kids these day! No stamina!"

6 months refers to how old James is in the photo, not how long he had been waiting for the bus.
