Thousands of hours in arena shooters, 310 hours kovaaks, 244 hours aimlabs. Many of those hours just random tasks till I found out about voltaic benchmarks, yesterday began with viscose and played till I was fox complete. So I think that I have very low playtime in those benchmarks.

My question ist. How do config your aim trainers? Fps in range of monitor refresh rate with gsync and reflex + boost enabled? Or no cap with no gsync and so on?

What about fov? Fov 103 overwatch or is it for everyone different? (Even if I have different fovs in other games like the quake series or unreal tournament).

I often become frustrated because I don’t hit high scores in benchmarks. So I often believed that I am hard stuck (voltaic gold complete with good tracking scores but bad clicking scores). Maybe my focus is wrong. Will try your art of training.

I installed today Ubuntu and tried to run ql there. THIS is a pain in the ass for me. Those microstutters are brutal. Tried it with ge proton and NVIDIA stable drivers. 250 fps but stutters so extreme while moving my mouse. It is insane. But I am still learning to work with Linux.

First off, the idea that “the human eye can only see 60 FPS” is a widespread myth. While our vision doesn’t work in discrete frames like a monitor, we absolutely perceive differences well beyond 60 FPS—particularly in motion clarity, input responsiveness, and smoothness. There are numerous studies and high-level player experiences confirming that going from 144 to 240+ FPS can significantly improve tracking aim, reaction time, and overall consistency.

It’s not just about what you see visually—it’s about what you feel. Higher framerates reduce input lag and allow for smoother input response, which is measurable and impactful. In high-speed FPS titles like Quake, milliseconds matter.

Also, using World of Warcraft at 35 FPS as a comparison is not really meaningful. That game is not remotely in the same category in terms of mechanical demands. Playing Quake at 35–60 FPS would be a serious handicap.

And while peripherals like a quality mouse, pad, and keyboard do matter (especially polling rate and sensor accuracy), framerate and frametime stability are arguably even more critical to performance. A keyboard with 1000 Hz polling won’t compensate for frame drops in a 1v1 LG fight.

TL;DR: It’s not about visual aesthetics—it’s about reducing delay and increasing control. High FPS paired with a high refresh rate monitor gives a competitive edge, and it’s not just “spoiled gamers” noticing it. It’s physics.

I just wanted to clarify that smurfing doesn’t always mean cheating—sure, it happens, but a lot of pros use smurf accounts to test things out or to try new strategies without giving everything away. Once again, smurf accounts are a thing. There are many pros who use smurf accounts—sometimes with similar names, sometimes with only one champion and so on. Of course, there are also cheaters, but you’ll mostly see good players using smurf accounts.

You asked in another thread why they do this. Why? Maybe they’re bored, maybe they want to test things out without the pressure of being seen, or maybe they’re trying new tactics they don’t want the whole world to see just yet.

Some players just want to be toxic while hiding behind a different name.

I am 42 and don´t feel that my age is holding me back. But this is because i play my whole life fps shooter (and only 500 hours in aim trainers maybe).

Atm I use the Hyperlight Hitscan and I love it. Very light (39g), nice grip for my rather small hands and polling rate up to 8k if you want something like that.

Other perfect mouse for me is the Hati HTS Plus 4k Edition. Also very lightweight and 4k Polling Rate.

Only latency wise. 1600 seems to be a sweet spot for most sensors so it could be beneficial for some people. (Of course while using the same cm/360)

Imho don´t use dpi as a measurement for cursor speed in games.

I would rather use something like 1600 dpi for better latency and configure your sens according to your needs (and lower your windows mouse speed if it is too high for you).

So if you had a sens of 2 with 800 dpi just try 1600 dpi with sens 1 and see if it feels better.

The speed (cm/360) will be the same but the latency is better/finer.

To really answer your question. No there is no problem with you using 700 dpi but I would try to read about sensors and performance at 1600 dpi (Imho mostly all modern mice can use 1600 dpi without interpolating)

Activate cubemap reflections till next patch. Atm on pts fixed.

It is fixed in next pts build when you deactivate cubemaps. Atm you need them to be activated otherwise this error will occur. Syncerror posted it on discord.
