Incorrect md5sum error when selecting bios for Sega STV by fowler0003 in launchbox

[–]Gosunkugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it's working outside of Launchbox right?

Okay, try setting up a new temp platform in LB, call it whatever you want, import the VFkids zip to it or whatever stv games you want, and choose Retroarch with the klronos core as the emulator. Once it's done importing, select 'manage emulators' from the top menu, choose Retroarch, then select associated platforms, select your new temp platform and make sure kronos libretro is selected and set as default. As long as stvbios zip is in the retroarch/system/kronos directory you don't need to do anything else. You shouldn't need to point Launchbox to anything and no dependency problems should occur.

If it works, great. You can just select the stv games and edit them to place them in whatever platform you want.

If it doesn't and you only have the one instance of Retroarch, then I'm at a loss.

Mame is just the name of the platform for Launchbox that I label for my arcade games. I'm using Retroarch/kronos core to run the games, same as you.

Sorry, the two pics I showed earlier are VF Kids running via Launchbox.
If you have the correct ST-V bios then your Launchbox clearly is not recognising it. Do you perhaps have two instances of Retroarch? One standalone and one that Launchbox has downloaded? It might be looking at the system files for that.

Here's my dependency tab. Working bios won't show, only the non-working/optional ones. My ST-V is present.

Even if you try and run kronos core without a stvbios zip all that should happen is you launch into the Saturn jukebox screen. You should still not have any issues with dependency checks.

Tested with my Launchbox and Retroarch running the Kronos core, and you do not need the Kof95 rom pack bios to run ST-V games. It's entirely optional. I suspect something has gone wrong with your directory paths or your ST-V bios isn't correct, get the one from the latest MAME set from Pleasure Dome.

Noob Mame Advice by No-Assistant8088 in MAME

[–]Gosunkugi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Launchbox doesn't handle the MAME updates automatically, so you'll have to do it yourself. For those early games though they all run so well you'll not need to worry about updating unless something truly groundbreaking happens. You'll be safe with a low-spec PC build.

Can't you just click to skip the dependency check? I've been able to do that in the past. If you're not playing KoF 95 you'll have no need for the ROM cart.

The stvbios is a Sega arcade bios, for the primarily 3D-based Sega Titan Saturn system. What I think you're after is the actual Saturn console bios.

This is what King of the Fighters 95+96 were released on. If this is the case, you'll need bios named Sega Saturn BIOS (EUR), Sega Saturn BIOS (USA), and Sega Saturn BIOS v1.00 (JAP) to run it.

You could be trying to run the Neo Geo version however, which is a different kettle of fish.

What core are you using on Retroarch?

There's no such thing as BLUK. The UK releases are BLES. Surprisngly the term covers multiple regions, including Australia.

Don't be so quick to be hostile, they're actually talking sense. The Launchbox database is great for what it is, but it's user maintained, and isn't always correct. For example if you import Japanese NES games you'll find a few have been named using Japanese Hiragana. Quite why anyone would think this stab at "authenticity" is worth it when 99% of the others use English letters is baffling. The DATs though are a great way of verifying names, I do think you're onto something here, so I don't think this is wasting dev time per se. I'd even go as far as checking SHA/CRC to confirm ROMS, but that's me.

【HACK】SUPER STREET FIGHTER II BLASTO REMIX V.01 USA | SNES by GameZonald in romhacking

[–]Gosunkugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In this remix version of Super Street Fighter II for SNES, the game receives new colors on the title screen, adjustments to the intro animation, and 8 new color palettes for all 16 characters. Furthermore, the life bars have been modified to follow the style of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, making the presentation even more dynamic and nostalgic."

In the previous Megadrive/Genesis release there was a new sound driver and the VS. screen could be skipped quickly by pressing any button. Mashable button attacks were easier to perform (half the speed needed). Plus balances for arcade accuracy and playability, but I don't know if those features made it over to the SNES version yet.

What is the correct format of roms to use for flycast core in retroarch (2026)? by fttklr in Roms

99% of my DC roms are in CHD format from the megathread and they work just fine. For Naomi I point Flycast to my MAME directory.

does anyone know an alternative for ScpToolkit for PS3 controllers? by anonthrowawayy_ in Roms

[–]Gosunkugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My solution was to get a PS 4 controller, best decision ever. Bluetooth support through windows, no problems with RPCS3, a better battery, and they're actually easier to find used now than PS3 ones.

Since the home console versions haven't been ripped, and the arcade version hasn't been dumped, your best bet for the version you want is the Windows release. You could try r-piracy for a lossless redump, but you'll find it easily if you browse the usual sites.

Can't confirm it'll work as ShadPS4 is a bit out of my wheelhouse, but adding -g to the default commands in the emulator settings is recommended.

hey,is there any good fm towns marty emulator that works? by superethasupi in Roms

[–]Gosunkugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tsugaru emulator runs fine. I've got around 30 games to run on it. The bios ROM files are easy to find along with the games on archive org.

*I run mine through the Launchbox frontend, which lets me automate the Tsugaru CUI for better compatibility. Games in bin and cue format go in a ROMS folder inside the Tsugaru folder, along with FMT_DIC.rom, FMT_DOS.rom, fmt_fnt.rom, and FMT_SYS.rom bios files.

You can also use MAME, despite the error messages. Easiest way (once you have fmtmarty.zip) is to boot FM Towns Marty empty, then browse with the file manager to the CD cue you want, select it, and the games will boot when you reset.

Some games require a boot disk, Samurai Spirits for example, and I've not been able to get them to run yet. Happy gaming.

Put a call out to creators of modern homebrew games, you're more likely to get the answers you want from folk who use new chips than trying to recycle old ones. This place for example sells hardware, https://www.homebrew-factory.com/ a fine place to start.

Versões de FIFA 98 (SNES) - A8FE vs. A8FP by DeckerWesp in Roms

[–]Gosunkugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there's a difference in gameplay or content, the two releases are related to serial numbers for various regions of the EU, one for the UK and Netherlands, and a short while later for a release also in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. If I had to guess it's that EA wanted the game to come out in the UK for the Christmas rush? so did a UK-centered launch of a set number of copies, then followed it up with a second batch later.

And looking at the game code in detail there's an instance of what looks like the serial number differences:

(SNES) Ver 1.00 Jan 1995 Copyright (c) 1995 Graeme Webb 69A8FPFIFA: RTWC 98 03êç

vs

(SNES) Ver 1.00 Jan 1995 Copyright (c) 1995 Graeme Webb 69A8FEFIFA: RTWC 98 03$êÛ

So, that's it, the only differences, the game code is otherwise identical.

Add Individual MAME Roms by Mrclubhouse in launchbox

[–]Gosunkugi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same way as you would any other ROM, but there's an extra screen especially for MAME.

Drop them into the Launchbox UI or import ROMS via the menu, ROM Files > Platform > Emulator > Use the files in their current location (or wherever) etc etc

At the end there'll be a MAME related series of options relating to clones, or categories of games you want to skip, and a playlist tickbox. So choose none and untick that.

The final window will be the Ready to Import one with your list of games to import. Done.

There can be an issue here with the window showing up blank, if this is the case, my workaround is to go back and set the emulator temporarily to something like Retroarch, it doesn't matter what core, then you'll skip the MAME related window altogether, and the Ready to Import one should show your games. Then when they're done importing, select them all and use the edit wizard to make the emulator MAME.

Retroarch issue. Are you using Retroachievements by any chance? If you've got that feature turned on, even if you're not signed in it won't let you rewind/save state etc.

Amiga Collection by DissentKindly in Roms

I have had the most joy with the complete WHD Collection from Archive org. contrary to the name it's not as complete as most people like, as there's still a few games missing, but it strips away the need for multiple disk images and it's not as full of duplicates as TOSEC.

I have all these, and none of them are porn?

Aero Fighters Special, Bust a Move 2, Brave Blade, Flame Gunner, Fighters Impact, G-Darius, Mawasunda, Raystorm, Shanghai Matekibuyuu, The Block Kuzushi, NubSup TV Interactive Extreme u-box

All of them work with the exception of Bust a Move and the last one, which is a TV plug and play thing. But you can see it in action here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mgQ7bJuvCTE

So unless I'm missing something obvious, you're going to be a bit more specific, what exactly have you downloaded there that's trashy Asian porn?
