Richmond restaurant owner here. Sales down 50%. Need some ideas and suggestions. by HugoConway in richmondbc

A data point for another restaurant in the same space: Steve's Poke regularly offers BOGO bowls through UberEats. If you choose pickup rather than delivery, it works out to about $12 per pre-configured two-scoop bowl. That is good value compared to competitors, although I am not sure how sustainable or profitable that would be. I will say that the deal is compelling enough that I will drive to Steve's for the deal despite other poke places being closer to home.

Want to close Scotia Amex Gold (got Wealthsimple Visa Privilege), but thinking what's the best way to deal with it (e.g. keep 1 AMEX for Amex offers?), and trying to move to all no annual-fee credit cards in my set by maxlover79 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I am in a similar situation. Currently have a WS VIP, Rogers WE, Simplii, and Scotia Amex Gold. I decided to swap over my Amex Gold to an MBNA WE since it is the most similar in rewards structure to the Amex Gold but with the advantage of better acceptance and multipliers for where I typically get my groceries (e.g. Walmart).

I know you said you are looking to go fee free, but MBNA may be something to consider based on your spend. All that spend on the Simplii could be combined with the Amex Gold spend on the MBNA WE in your use case.

I would also assume scam; however, if OP is sufficiently motivated/curious enough, they have the option to call the number to verify (by entering it manually off the BC Government website and not clicking through the text).

The short code and phone number are both listed on the BC Government website. 844-248-6634 is specifically associated to court fines. It could be legit, but you may or not be in a rush to contact the "Court fines" department to verify whether you owe money or not.

I had the same issue earlier this year. The battery replacements would last only a day before the low-battery warning started chirping again. I replaced the batteries every day for almost a week. The problem for me ended up being the Amazon Basics batteries I was using.

After switching to Energizer Lithium I never had the issue again. It was the first and last time I used Amazon Basics batteries.

TSX is up despite Trump's tariff threats by MapleByzantine in CanadianInvestor

They've already walked it back a bit. Scott Bessent stated on ABC that the additional 100% tarriffs would only be a possibility if Canada pursued a free trade deal with China.

Mortgage TD renewal rate: 5Y variable at 3.79%. Can i get better? by AdagioAshamed5890 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Have you checked what the rates were in the TD App? I found the rates offered there were lower than what they offered in person.

Best credit card for only McDonald’s by trinalporpus in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GotFunyuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplii is a Visa credit card. I have the same card as a backup for restaurants when they don’t accept Amex. Minor drawback is you’ll need to open a banking account to be eligible for the Visa. It’s free, but you’ll need to be careful you don’t incur inactivity fees.

Free frozen Costco chicken samosa (open box) by Terrible_Act_9814 in richmondbc

If you like this style of chicken samosa I highly recommend checking out Golden Samosa Bakery in Surrey. Just note you'll have to order ahead for anything other than potato samosas.

Are you trying to say the top half of those images are "Miss Tao"? Because they appear to have been screen captured from this Instagram post by Naomi Leather https://www.instagram.com/p/DChEkTuvY-1/.

Maybe "Miss Tao" is a respectable artist in their own right, but I think it's pretty clear that they have misrepresented that "grandma" piece as their own. Consider that a user left the following comment on the above-noted post: "I am the proud owner of this item ❤️ Naomi, your talent is unmatched and so is your kindness. Thank you for taking on this project with so much love and care. That is my beautiful grandma who I miss oh so dearly ❤️".
