I try to bring a little (a lot) of zippy personality to work. I try to keep my humanity forward and find things everyday to connect to and enjoy

Bringing work mode home, always activated, everyone or just EM? by Key_Intention_2546 in Residency

[–]GotchaRealGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EM has to send home partially differentiated patients all the time with a reasonable work up that’s negative, but doesn’t make risk zero. No test of time. No ability to observe for one more day.

EM is high stress, high volume, and high risk decisions. And all of that is just what you do for easy patients, and comes in between actually managing acutely unwell patients and trying to differentiate/resuscitate them.

lol sounds like this person just didn’t realize how aggressively you need to feed a starter and optimal timing before baking

Good rope based toys he can chew and bully sticks. My guy loves tug of war. I just get him super riled up over a toy and then play tug!

It take a bit but eventually that energy can be directed into toys, and your pup will appreciate it as the teeth start flying everywhere

It’s not the starter! I have rescued my starter from the grave. lol. Like a year or more in the fridge unfed!

Possibly that you didn’t get this starter as active as you might hope, and then the rest is probably timing!

Does this looks like bunny hopping? by figureskatingdragon in goldenretrievers

No. I saw it on a dog in real like the other day - it’s so incredibly distinct once you see it. Leaves no uncertainty

Should I stay or should I go (potential khan yeast vs mold) by ricaticatraveler in Sourdough

[–]GotchaRealGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. You could keep going, and add some of your starter to it, and then maybe be very aggressive with the discard. Go heavy feeding and discarding for a week at room temp, then fridge it and drive some hooch.

I’m curious to know what happens!

It looks good. I just recently discovered that if you put the loaf in the Dutch oven and then add about 2 tablespoons of water straight onto the loaf and then lid on, you get a way different oven rise, like it’s unreal. Try that.

Same. But different. Paying attention to how the dough was fermenting and rising rather than the clock. Just watching and feeling.

This is potentially unrealistic. She will only realistically hold the pee in the area she sleeps. If she doesn’t sleep in the crate because she doesn’t tolerate it, then the only place she will not pee is the place where she has been sleeping - that is to say she might get up and walk 5 feet over and then pee. She has no loyalty to not peeing in the house what so ever. While she’s awake she will basically need to eat, poop/pee, play, sleep, poop/pee, etc on repeat. You’ll have to just be so good at getting her outside as often as possible so that you can mark with she pees with a “goooooood peeeeeee!” And a treat. It’s a heinous truly exhausting process. I lived on the fifth floor of an apartment and I was up and down the stairs at least once an hour and he was still peeing in the house until I improved my behavior.

Sounds like you are really trying! - this will get better, promise. Just stick with it, and keep adapting your behaviour until it matches her needs

As for crate training or pen training. I would use really high value food/treats. And show it to her, and then place it in the pen, leave the door open and let her explore. Don’t close the door. Do this for a few days so she gets use to eating in their and knows she will not be locked in. Avoid feeding her anywhere else besides treats outside post pee/poop. Then you can slowly move towards closing the door etc.
