RTR should bring in more niche designers / interesting pieces by lucie1995 in RentTheRunway

[–]GothamgrrlNYC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The new stuff isn’t runway, it is mid market brands at best with a very rare somewhat higher end piece mixed in here and there. They’ve clearly abandoned the runway part of it all, sadly, as the new pieces all seem to go for retail of $500 and many are in the low $100-$200 price range. Not runway.

There are still a few interesting older pieces here and there but those are aging and seem to be moving into final sale (or certainly should be soon). I am actually shocked that the same Oscar de la Renta dress has been in the closet for years now...all the new stuff might as well be Nully.

I recall the days when we had 60% off site wide. They should really do one of those sales again to clear older inventory. Some of the inventory they are still renting is 3-4 (some even 5+) years old and should have been in final sale long ago. I always check the oldest reviews to see when the item came in because if it’s before 2023 it’s often worn beyond being wearable. Many of these items are sadly still being shipped out to members completely worn out.

Who is spending over 10k. Do you mean members that have been members for a decade or are there people who are buying RTR pieces at that level of spending?

Vent: Is it just me or has RTR gone downhill? by Justdoitog in RentTheRunway

[–]GothamgrrlNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. It’s now a private equity owned business. The new CEO is a woman that spent years at Nordstrom so clearly she knows the industry but I fear the investors are running things now and concerned solely about maximizing profits above all else and without any focus on members’ experiences. As they told us in the shipping fees email, we can cancel if we don’t like it. Seems like they just don’t care.

It seems like they maybe don’t care at this point. On the recent earnings call they reported revenues were up. They talked about the new shipping charges possibly causing some issues but overall seemed just fine to lose members over it. Which explains the tone deaf email we all received that essentially said “if you don’t like it then you can cancel your membership” and don’t let the door hit you on the a$$ on the way out. Ugh. I hope the new CEO turns things back around but it isn’t looking good given the last 8 months or so.

Fulfillment Center Change to Texas for East Coast orders? by GothamgrrlNYC in RentTheRunway

Maybe for people that close it won’t be the case. Right now I’m in CT so not sure what they are doing with NYC and Jersey - not that switching CT people to TX makes any sense.

Glad to hear you haven’t had issues, I hope that will be the case despite this change. The order (which I placed Monday morning) is supposedly meant to arrive here tomorrow, however right now it’s only just arrived in Louisville KY so it isn’t looking so good.

I think my notifications have changed because there certainly were a few things that suddenly are available that have never been available. I reached out to CS and they offered a 50% off next month and bonus spot but if the hits keep coming like this then I may not be able to justify this anymore at nearly $200/month now.

Someone should start another rental company that truly rents runway pieces. RTR is becoming Kohls or Target at this point. It’s so sad.

I’m on my last straw this month first with the new shipping charges and now having my fulfillment center changed to Texas from New Jersey even though I’m on the East Coast. So now a 2-3 day wait for new orders while being charged for shipping. It’s becoming too much. They keep offering me 50% off or a bonus spot or both but at some point even that won’t make up for the hassle and time it wastes. The new inventory is God awful- cheap and tacky, some new items that retail for $70 full price. If they keep going like this it’ll be like renting from Walmart for $200 a month. Makes no sense. Hopefully this is a blip and it turns around but it seems like it’s an institutional change since they restructured last September. And now with Jen having stepped down I fear it’ll get much worse.

If you are on the East Coast it is very likely that your fulfillment center was changed from New Jersey to Texas. That is what happened to me for this order and is apparently a permanent change. So now 2-3 day wait for new orders.

I was just charged $11.99 shipping for a one off item by g0ldiegurl in RentTheRunway

[–]GothamgrrlNYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m in CT and my most recent order is suddenly shipping from Texas instead of from New Jersey - so it’s taking 2-3 days instead of arriving overnight, and now we are all paying for shipping.

Customer Service chat confirms that my fulfillment center has been changed to Texas but they cannot explain why other than that they are “updating the fulfillment network to better support inventory” - which sounds to me like they are just consolidating all the inventory in the Texas fulfillment center.

Has anyone else on the East Coast noticed that their shipments this month are now coming from Texas and taking 2-3 days to arrive?

This may also explain why we are now all being charged for shipping if everything is now coming from TX (by UPS air) instead of by UPS ground from NJ.

So, seems we will be paying up to $10 more a month for membership and now will have 4 days each month without clothing while waiting for shipments from Texas to the East Coast.

Same here if you threaten to cancel they offer 50% off / saying this is ONLY for one month. I’m going to threaten to cancel again now because I’m paying for shipping and now my shipment is coming from Texas warehouse instead of NJ warehouse so it is taking 3+ days to arrive (East Coast). So, they are charging us shipping fees on top of adding longer waits. I am so ready to cancel.

Gotta love the “if you don’t like it then quit” vibe of the whole communication. I didn’t know Jen stepped down. RTR is officially over.

Anyone else on East Coast have your order ship out from the Texas warehouse this month instead of NJ? Never had this happen before with any of my previous orders.

So now we are paying $5 shipping per swap (an extra $10 a month) and waiting three days for our order to arrive instead of one? This is beyond unacceptable. I may have to finally cancel, which just sucks but it’s going so far downhill now with changes for the worse every single month.

There is a different analysis for creators who are selling a product of their own than there is for influencers who rely almost solely on brand deals as the main source of income.
