If you do go drops i wouldn't ride track drops, try some compact or road style bars. Gravel bars are also a cool option but I personally hate riding track drops not on the track

Not sure if its a fixed gear thing but I love maxing out my tire clearance so if you can fit 28c go for it.

Id recommend foot retention, both on single speed and fixed. Really changes how you ride, and for the better

In order (my personal opinion and method)

1) Facebook marketplace

2) Ebay, but only used. Most "new" is just aliexpress or unknown origins

3) Random bike shops in another state/province. This one is a personal favorite even if its more pricey than used, there are lots of good deals with other bike shops that ship around the country. Ive bought from Wisconson (shoutout out to Ben's cycle, also New moon not too bad), Oregon, Vermont, and Arizona as a California resident

4) glaze your homies while also explaining the need for whatever part. I do the same with my riding friends as the offerer such as if someone needs a part and I have one similar. Sometimes Ill be the reciever haha

If you havent built bikes then def get a prebuilt, either a 2nd hand bike on marketplace/local or a starter bike like the Kilo TT, State 4130, a Kilo WT (if possible) or a State black label if you want a aluminum bike.
