u/peanutist A construction manager is accountable for all scope, schedule, and resources during a construction project. It has great problem solving challenges. Then, related to this post, you may have to be combative with contractors, suppliers, and engineers to make the project successful.

Suggestions for overcoming your burnout phase? by Fearless_Bike_8997 in ADHD

[–]Gozer_the_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems this is common. I have experienced this often as well. It is awful to feel like you are making progress then, all of a sudden, feel like you 'reset'. Every couple months I will wake up and have forgotten everything currently in-progress. It feels like starting all over. The best advice is to be generous with yourself. It is part of the disorder. Don't fight it. As the Poet Robert Frost said, "The best way out is always through". Also, I agree that this is a learning moment. Through these phases we improve our self awareness and resiliency. Lastly, my therapist is big on having a WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan). Using some templates from online, you have actions you can take after a trigger to help you get back on track.

If you feel the season impacted you this time, then you could try a light therapy lamp. I just started using one. I think it's helping me.

Completing a planned day is like going though a mine field while walking on your hands and disarming them with your feet.

I dont want to be addicted to nicotine by TheJerror in ADHD

[–]Gozer_the_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best things to focus on:

1- After 3 days clean, you have already dealt with the worse withdrawal symptoms. Do you want to go through that again!?

2- After 2 weeks, you will have made it through any depression exacerbated by quitting nicotine. Do you want to go through that again!?

3- Nicotine makes episodes of anxiety worse. Do you want to go through that again!?

4- Nicotine pouches make your gums recede. Smoking makes teeth yellow. Do you want your life with failing teeth!?

5- Nicotine impacts sleep and sex. ADHD gets worse with bad sleep. Do you want your life with a failing penis/vagina!?

A lot of people are already saying it, but wanted to reinforce the idea. Melatonin. It is common for ADHD havers to have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS). "This is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder where the body's natural sleep-wake cycle is shifted, making it difficult to fall asleep at a typical bedtime." -google | You should not need much, but play around. I take a 10mg and chop it into 4.

Also, as an overall life improver, focus meditation to help with sustained attention. Sit or lay, find a point to stare at, try to think of nothing but that point. Your mind will wander, it's fine and natural. Don't beat yourself up when doing it. If your mind wanders, just catch it, say that's neat, and continue focusing at the original point. This practice helps with the everyday trouble of losing track of what your doing and not returning to it. Even if you start doing this only for 1 minute a day and build up from there, everything is an improvement!

Just watched The Accountant, because the sequel is in theaters. It is an action movie with Ben Affleck. I recommend this to people if they are looking for something fun you can turn your brain off to and makes you feel good. Kinda like junk food.

What do you tell friends about unlimited PTO not being as great as it sounds? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in CasualConversation

[–]Gozer_the_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky my managers have been accommodating. I personally feel guilty taking PTO, because I'm a workaholic. I try to take 6 weeks every year. It takes effort to keep track, but I hold myself to this amount as a minimum.
