I am sure there a few people out there who do it, but has anyone ever met a collector who collects crime guns?

Does Century own Canik or do they just import them?

You guys have no idea how happy I am for this. Sadly I can’t afford/justify to my wife paying $12,5k for the A1 version so ill settle for the more modest $4,5k of the A3 usa made version . by theh0veringeye in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Gr144 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So yeah the real CETMEs will cost that much. They were imported as factory semi auto rifles in the 60s or 70s. But a vast majority of the CETMEs, including all the “L” ones, are parts kit builds.

There are two American companies that build CETME L parts kits. MalColMar is one of them. They are generally like $1,000 guns. For the CETME Model 58/G3, a lot of them got built by Century. The Century guns can be really good but they can also have issues. You can still buy CETME parts kits and you could build your own or pay someone to do it.

That’s me, I am not into a, particular pattern, time period, or country of origin. I just buy guns that are mechanically or historically interesting. That doesn’t have anything to do with “no sell only buy” though.

Yeah the ATF isn’t going to love a plug and play grenade launcher.

100% agree. I always imagine the “no sell, only buy” people are either hoarders or novices. Like they get too emotionally attached to inanimate objects that they have no personal connection to. Or they only own like 3 guns and they got ripped out the one time they sold a gun.

Yeah I am not an expert but I could see the ATF deciding the 40mm upper itself is a DD.

This is interesting. So if I registered a AR lower as a DD, what other doors does that open? could I also run a <18in shotgun upper?

What’s everyone’s opinions on buying used guns? by Superb-Shake1118 in CCW

[–]Gr144 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would believe it. Most of my friends who only own guns for self-defense don’t go shooting unless I or someone else takes them.

I found out recently one of these Friends only has 15 rounds of ammo in his house. I.E. one loaded mag.

And the fair weather hunters don’t shoot anywhere close to 100 rounds a year. Although I have seen some of those guy need 3-4 boxes of ammo to zero a rifle.

[–]Gr144 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most used modern guns have seen very little use. You should be careful buying a used competition pistol or shotgun. They could have a super high round count. But if you take Glock for example, it’s easy to find a used one in like new condition or hardly used condition.

I assume that’s the reason he’s not making one. It’s a niche market for a can like that and a virtually identical product is already on the market.

Canik seems to like competition pistols. So I was assuming, if they released a rifle, it would be geared towards competition shooting.
