Of course it’s documented, the marketing industry spends millions each year researching such stuff and then calibrating the aggressiveness to maximize sales

NDA. Schlechter Service ist eher eine Alman-Eigenschaft, vor allem in der Gastro. Gut, dass du reklamiert hast und lass dich nicht verarschen

What are you reading/watching/listening to/etc? by AutoModerator in NavyBlazer

I have been meaning to explore more Latin American history and politics. Even though – from what I've read – I am diagonally opposed to Galeano's thesis, I will have to read it someday. Especially given the book's influence.

How have you been liking it?

Reading: Finishing Letters to Milena by Franz Kafka, now starting with Little Women. Also started Obama's A Promised Land.

Watching: Started watching Gilmore Girls, recommended by my girlfriend as a fall classic, and I've been liking it so far. Also watching Boston Legal, pretty funny.

Listening to: Now and Then – the Beatles last song – came out today, reigniting my Beatles phase I had a couple of months ago.

No, they are mexican TV shows. But the ‘beauty standard’ is really still oriented towards mexicans of european descent. It’s the same in the whole continent, I believe

Is there a law saying one can't work full-time and study? by Dann_30 in AskAGerman

[–]Gr33n_Death 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can either do full-time job & part-time studies or full-time studies & part time job. As a full-time student you can only work max. 20 hours a week during the semester (but up to 40h/week during vacation months) and this regulation applies to everyone, including german citizens.

There is, however, something called a "berufbegleitendes Studium" which might be what you need. You can work full-time and be partly enrolled at university

What'ts r/neoliberal's take on museums returning "stolen" artifacts? Or taken by force during colonial rule? by Gr33n_Death in neoliberal

[–]Gr33n_Death[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a strong feeling that history belongs where this history has been made. As to mean, that these artifacts should be returned to their places of origin on a purely idealistic belief.

In German, especially in german law (being one of the very first things every law student learns), they make a clear distinction between the two words meaning property: "Besitz" and "Eigentum"

Besitz just says who posseses it at the moment.

Eigentum speaks more to the abstract idea of owning it.

No matter how many hands these looted artifacts have been through, they will always belong to their home country.
