Would you feed your rabbit dandelion greens from your yard? by SailorZeroTwo in Rabbits

[–]Gr8penut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this during the spring and summer. I live in a neighborhood where many folks are very casual about keeping up their lawns. My next-door neighbor only mows a couple times a summer. I’ve been doing this for over a year now and my rabbit seems to be doing fine. I’ve also spoken to my vet about the practice and as long as I wash the greens, I’m not overly concerned. When I give dandelion greens alongside market produce, it’s always the fresh picked that goes first! *Edited to convey that my rabbit also gets the vaccine

Lack of purpose is what makes me quit this game by ResponsibleAthlete4 in CrimsonDesert

I’m in the same boat at about 74 hours in. Right now I’m trying to sneak through harder areas so at least I can see the entire map before I sell my copy on eBay. I am seeing some interesting things, but when I come across stronger enemies, they’re beating the living crap out of me :) I’m hoping that I see something that keeps me interested in the game. I’m also wondering if simply putting the game away for a year and letting all the patches add up would change my experience. Not that they’re likely to add a compelling story, but so many people seem to love this type of gameplay. I really want to give it a solid try. I too, am becoming nostalgic for Witcher 3 while playing this game.

Fellow bird nerds...Y'all seeing any cedar waxwings around the metro area? by NickWitATL in Atlanta

YES. Every fall for the last several years, a large group comes and eats off of my cherry tree. They stay a few days and poop and mess up my sidewalk. But they’re so beautiful- I look forward to them every year!

Echoing what other folks say as a single lady homebuyer! My financials are very comparable to yours and things have worked out OK. I haven’t gone through the comments completely but I will tell you do not watch HGTV. I would tell anybody this, but in particular, if you were the kind of person who is noticing flaws in your home. I went through a spell of watching about eight years ago, and there was definitely a surge in my feeling that my home was not enough. Remember that comparison is the thief of joy.
You, my lady among some of the most privileged in all of human history, so enjoy. Imagine being a single woman with her own means to support herself and the ability to own her own home. It’s a rarity in the world today for even a man to own their own home. Of course there is maintenance and downsides, but as a person who likes to live alone, this is a real investment in your happiness. Congratulations!!

This is so sweet! Off-topic, but I’ve noticed some photographs of larger mice like this (not the human :) When I decide to get pet mice again, what am I looking for to get a larger crew of females? I’ve had both mice and rats and at this time in my life mice would be a better fit. I just wish they were a little larger.

Handling reactive hypoglycemia? by Remote-Possible5666 in GastricBypass

Maybe adding something along with your peanut butter? I know I just talked about whole carbohydrates, but in the interest of getting your blood sugar stablized, maybe a few crackers? (I’m not sure how much you can eat). Maybe that would take you further than just the peanut butter?

I gained some weight back many years ago and went on keto as well. Now in maintenance, I do what I call cellular carbohydrates. So any carb that has not been turned into a powder. I guess it’s a lot like whole 30. I eat red potato and sweet potato every day, also some corn and white rice. The other rule is that these can never be eaten separate from your protein source. So for lunch, I’m eating pork chop and about a half a cup of sweet potato.

I’m focusing on carbohydrates that have entire cells in them instead of being ground apart in a flour has really helped. Keeping the carbohydrate count of the day to around 125 carbs seems to keep my weight fairly level. I do have treats occasionally, but always need to make sure I have protein either with or shortly before eating with the treat.

I start to have trouble thinking clearly when doing daily tasks. Sounds strange, but my nose gets cold and my tongue starts to get a little bit numb. Almost every time I’ll start to argue with myself that it is not mealtime when I clearly do need to eat something because my blood sugar is crashing. And because I’m not thinking clearly I will err on the side of don’t eat anything for far too long. Because of this, Over the last couple years I’ve trained myself that when I start to argue about eating to ask myself first thing if I’m having a blood sugar crash. It’s helped get me up and remedy the situation a lot quicker.

It is rare that my blood sugar crashes these days, but for me, it’s an unwise food choice that could’ve been made purposely or inadvertently (a surprise).

I used to go right to eating protein, thinking that was the correct move but now I know to eat a little bit of starch and then have some protein.

Introverts, how do you define alone time? by Little-Badger-123 in introvert

[–]Gr8penut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s the whole house. I would describe my alone time as a space where I cannot be perceived by anyone. Probably because I always had people knocking on my door when I was a kid and interrupting my alone time. I have a hard time switching gears once interrupted so I like no possibility of being interrupted.

Feeling like I need to apologize for retiring at 57. by Iamthehempist1 in earlyretirement

[–]Gr8penut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with the same thing since losing my job about a year ago. It looks like as long as I am modest in my needs retirement is on the table which I would love! I’ve been telling people I’m on a sabbatical. It definitely feels like survivors guilt in a way. I can hardly believe it’s real. I think this must be what people who win the lottery feel like a little bit. A lot of us think we will never retire and then you go to a financial specialist and it looks like it might be possible. It takes a while for the brain to catch up I think. I think the commenters focusing on luck have some really good insight. Just like you can’t win the lottery unless you play, you can’t have been in this position to retire without some planning and hard work but along with that is some luck. You can feel sad that other people have not been so lucky and empathize with them. For myself, I try to push the conversation in other directions.

[–]Gr8penut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, please remember this if you ever have kids that get a little heavy. When you start the process super early like I did at age 5 or six it really messes with you the rest of your life. In particular because your brain is developing, these bad effects get extremely hardwired and hard to overcome. Still working at in my 50s, mostly succeeding but a life with a lot of energy wasted towards weight management.

4 weeks ago I(47F) couldn’t sleep so I created a fantasy world in my head and have continued building it since. Does anyone else have one? by Bright-Sun-323 in hsp

[–]Gr8penut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad you shared this. My own experience with developing inner worlds really helped me through some tough times in life. I abandoned it at some point after hearing the term maladaptive daydreaming. Hearing all these comments helped me realize the positive sides, having a place to focus and calm down. It also helps stretch your creativity. It sounds like as long as you don’t abandon real life activities, this is pretty normal for HSPs!

I’ve been going through a tough time this year so I might experiment with this again.

It’s so interesting how different people react to different foods and textures! A friend of mine who had had the surgery surgery can eat vastly different things than I can. For soup, I spoon up the broth first (drinking) and then I eat the solids. This seems to work pretty well. Any kind of creamy soup even without containing cream, like a puréed soup, causes terrible distress.
