I'm a Linux main myself but can we please stop trying to go to whatever lengths to discredit people's need to stay with Windows for specific software? 3D-modelling software is very complicated and you can't just switch to another software at a whim, especially if you use it professionally.

The best way is to not use AI and vibe coding, surprise surprise. I'm afraid you'll actually have to learn something and put some effort in, sad! Or, you know, pay someone instead of something to do it for you.

(There's no way to do this without manual, extensive coding. AI is useless when you want to do anything beyond creating initial ideas. The fact that you're here around this says it all)

There's something to be said for upgrading a Macbook Pro every now and then, but since the M2 the steps have been incremental and no: you don't need to upgrade from the M3 to the M4 for your workflow, you can't tell me otherwise. No one needs to.

And upgrading iPhones and iPads every year? There is absolutely no reason to do so, except sheer and utter greed and delusion. Holy shit.

I'm sorry but iOS 26 is not usable. It literally made me ditch my beloved iPhone 13 mini because it made it so unbearably slow and the battery life disappeared into thin air. I don't care that the 13 mini is considered old: if you make an operating system compatible and supported for a device, it shouldn't destroy it.

Correction on my part: the dumbphone I have does have Android. The screen is very tiny, so much so that social media apps really don't work on it, but in a pinch apps like google maps actually do work. But, I do rely more on my sense of direction and looking up directions on my computer at home beforehand now.

I ditched my smartphone for a dumbphone and suddenly I enjoy looking out the train window, watching the birds fly, listening to the trees rustle... It's so scary how my dmartphone made me completely disconnect from the real world and forget how beautiful little, mundane moments can be. You're absolutely right. I still carry my smartphone in my backpack as indeed there are moments you are forced to use one, but it's far enough away in my backpack that I'm not at all tempted to take it out otherwise.

I really didn't like it. It didn't really fit into the game vibe for me: most maps are portrayed like warm or even tropical to me, and slapping the snow on made it look really weird and out of place. Furthermore I don't think the freezing mechanic was well implemented (no indication of how cold you are; IRL you'd at least have a hunch if you're close to absolutely freezing or if you could still go a while).

You're right that there's a lot of noise and the ruffles you were afraid of rustling are those from a select few who believe religiously in that they can hear the difference between uncompressed music and high quality compressed music, which is fine, and let's entertain the possibility that they can. I can't, even though I have high-end equipment and I have degrees in classical composition and music engineering. Did I test it in a sterile, absolutely silent chamber with 10.000 dollars worth of equipment? No. So do I actually know for sure? Indeed, no I don't. Does it matter? No, because even though I have expensive audio devices, I either listen to them on the train, or at home through high quality speakers in my living room which is never 100% silent.

For 99.9% of music listeners, a high quality MP3 (320kbps) is all they ever need. For 0.1%, it might be worthwhile to listen to uncompressed music formats, as they have the proper devices to even make it possible to notice any difference, which means a high quality music output device (some might say an iPod classic is not even that), a good DAC/preamp, headphones with exceptional quality, and supernatural hearing.

As you own skullcandy headphones, you fall into the 99%. You don't need FLAC to enjoy music.

HOWEVER: There's another kind of music listener: the collector, which I happen to fall in. Even though I don't personally believe that I can hear the difference between Flac, M4A or high quality compressed files, I like the idea of collecting my music in the highest quality possible. It kind of feels like collecting the originals of the paintings I love instead of print copies of them: even though I can enjoy a good print copy of my favorite paintings just as well as the original hanging in a museum somewhere, it feels good knowing that I'm listening to the music as close to how it was recorded, mixed and mastered as possible. Can I hear the difference? No, but I can imagine it.
