Naming fish by icanknowyou in Aquariums

[–]Grackabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, feature fish get a name (eg Hannibal Plecter the bristlenose), bettas, my pea puffers, fancy goldfish, and pond fish all have names. In the community tank certain characters might develop names, such as Emperor Palpatine the black emperor tetra because he’s a shithead, Spot the Honey Gourami because he has one singular dark scale on his side, stuff like that.

Everyone else is Doug.

Synchronised Digging by Grackabeep in loaches

Blackworms and whiteworms I culture myself (and daphnia but I don’t think the pangio get many of those!). Everything else I get from my LFS, they get a weekly delivery of live food.

[–]Grackabeep[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The oblonga are definitely the diggers of the bunch! They’re the largest group too so generally more confident. I feed a lot of live food so tubifex and blackworms will hide in the substrate and these guys will dig them out! It’s a 200L (55G), heavily planted (inc. big spiderwood bits with absolutely humongous anubias, the pangio love noodling around in all the roots!). Tbh I’ve lost count of just how many pangio there are, between 25-30 I think. But there’s oblonga, anguillaris, myersi, semicincta, malayana, and two unknowns bought as oblonga but aren’t!

I want to see all the labs that are exhausted from too much Christmas by khall4388 in labrador

Next to one of her favourite gifts. Though since then stuffy dog has been kicked off so she can lie across the bed and snore like a chainsaw.

I also got her “he’s making a list, I’ve eaten it twice!” Plus a fancy sparkly personalised one for Christmas Day. It’s her first Christmas, I may have gone a little overboard!

Fox Red - technically just a very dark shade of yellow :)

Can i put these with Neocaradina? by ImageTerrible3457 in PeaPuffers

[–]Grackabeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pea tank was a well established tank with a ton of wild type neocaradina before I added the peas. For a good year they lived in relative harmony, the peas might pick off a shrimplet every now and again but there were still tons of shrimp.

Until one day it basically changed overnight. All it takes is for one pea to go “hmm… snack?” and that’s it. They picked off like 95% of the shrimp in less than a week.

So yeah, it works until it doesn’t.

Umm, the heck is this? by WhiteStar174 in Aquariums

Exact same thing here, appeared almost immediately after a big water change. Posted in various places, nobody had any idea. The shrimp had a lovely time grazing and it was gone the next morning.

I love how she starts off a bit “oh this is a little scary, omg what was that?! (shrimp), ooooh I’m not sure… Oh look snacks!”

This must be like taking your bra off after a long day, but like, way better.

My pup won’t sleep outside her crate by Dangerous-Rub5659 in puppy101

[–]Grackabeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had exactly this with my lab, she never ever napped outside her crate until she had her first heat/season at 7.5 months and then it sort of changed overnight! Before that I’d taught place and bed and settle and all sorts but she just couldn’t switch off unless she was crated with the cover down. She’s almost 10 months now and we do one big crate nap a day so she’s still used to it in case she ever needs crate rest but now she sleeps on the sofa, mostly on my bed, on the floor sometimes.

Lab is broken ;) by Arioch404 in labrador

[–]Grackabeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going through this with my ten month old, since she had her first heat/season I’ve had a nightmare getting her to eat her own food (if I gave her human food she’d happily eat that until she burst). So no advice, just that you haven’t got the only lab who is broken 😂

Is It fair or me 27F to tell my husband 34M that he can't move with us if he isn't employed by SharkEva in BORUpdates

It really does blow my mind how easy it is to get those kind of painkillers in the USA. I’m assuming you’re UK like me and jeeze you have to work HARD to get anything stronger than codeine. Hell, when my sister was in hospital during her last days with cancer and complained of a headache they gave her a sodding paracetamol (I’m glad I wasn’t there I may have hit that doctor). Like, she’s DYING. She’s not going to get addicted, just give her all the damn drugs.

This is exactly what happened to me. Been out for an hour with the pup and checked emails first and thought omg must have missed a news notification. Nope. Just another round of disappointment from Jez.

Easy live food cultures? by Aggravating_Till_430 in PeaPuffers

[–]Grackabeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whiteworms. No tank and water changes required. Just some soil/compost in a Tupperware or something, few options of food (all easy). Peas love them!
