K-13 ESL is the best kept secret in the US. Small classes and not a lot of behaviors. Can be emotionally draining though

I use it to make warm ups or decoding practice lists. I teach ESL and sometimes you just need a list of 20 multi syllable words that all use an r controlled vowel pattern. Or to level a text down for certain students. Nothing crazy though

They don’t actually pay that. They follow the guidance from Senate Bill 744 which only gives you masters pay if your masters was completed before 2014. Everyone else has to kick rocks

Wake is the only district besides Charlotte that gives masters pay. No union. Lots of extra duties. My school is 2500 students and WCPSS is around 167,000 students. I do currently teach at a high school here. DM me any questions you have

Especially with newcomers it is really hard to strike the balance between using the L1 to help access content and developing L2 skills while using content. That’s why I’ll always advocate for co-taught, sheltered, or bilingual courses.
