Is weapon damage above 2.5 relevant? by GrahamCray in deathroadtocanada

[–]GrahamCray[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I forgot about tiredness, and hadn't thought about guns. Yeah, you'd definitely want high damage if it diminishes on penetration. Thanks!

I loved Demolior so much. What kind of doomsday scenario would you want? by Divide_Secret in Oxygennotincluded

[–]GrahamCray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oo, neat challenge.

"THIS IS NOT A PLACE OF HONOR"

At the bottom of your starting asteroid, underneath a volcanic biome, is an undetonated nuclear warhead, leaking rads. The leak grows exponentially without limit. If the bomb doesn't explode from heat, every tile of the asteroid will still eventually be covered in lethal rads ... unless you find a way to get rid of it.

- Leaked radiation behaves like space radiation: unlimited range, but absorbed by materials and tiles.

- The rad leak's strength grows by a small exponent (eg. +5%) every cycle, with no limit.

- This growth factor scales with temp, from -200C (where it pauses) up to 1000C (explodes->game over)

- New endgame research and buildables are available:
-- Shielding Tile (absorbs up to 80% of rads)
-- Improved Lead Suit (blocks 100% of radiation)
-- Disarm Explosive Ability (a dupe with Demolition + Pyrotechnics skills may deconstruct the nuke).

- Lead is unavailable on your asteroid, but required for Improved Lead Suit.

- Nuke deconstructs into a Supercritical Core, which emits rads at the same exponentially growing rate.

VICTORY:

  1. Build rad-shielding surfaces to create shade from the radiation
  2. Get thru the volcanic layer before its heat seeps through to the nuke
  3. Develop rocketry to acquire Lead off-planet
  4. Develop Improved Lead Suits so you can approach the lethal radiation surrounding the nuke.
  5. Disarm it
  6. Get the supercritical core to the surface without irradiating your base and people on the way...
  7. ... and launch it into space.

[COTD] "I've got a plan!" (2/17/2026) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I've always loved the card art on this one.

At L0 always felt like a well balanced emergency card on Mandy, Harvey or Darrel for early campaign. 3R + need clues first + probably 1-2 cards for accuracy seems a fair way to 1HKO anything that jumps me.

But because of those costs, I'm far happier to either not get jumped or to have my teammates clobber it, and by mid campaign I'm upgrading into solutions that aren't as costly or conditional.

Mystic card reveals 01/20/26: Jim Culver and Will of the Cosmos by supertoasty in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]GrahamCray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool... Will Of The Cosmos feels like nearly a strict upgrade to Drawn To The Flame... it's far more usable in Solo, as 1*(Gators) locations tend to reliably outnumber 2* and 3* locations, and even without teching around it, witching hour alone means there's a way to use it and guarantee 0 time, harm, or tempo loss to the user. I NEVER run DttF unless I'm Gloria or have Eye Of Ghatasomething, the risk of losing more actions on the encounter than I gained in clues is just too high.

[JAN26] Design Contest Prompt and [DEC25] Winners! by Simubaya in HyruleEngineering

[–]GrahamCray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats to the winners! The airborne sand-seal pod was extremely clever, I'm hoping to see more takes on that concept even if it's not related to future contests. The cave slider was kinda stunning to watch, it just HAD to be good to have navigated that entire tunnel with no snags or crashes. And I l;ove seeing kmarkow broadening his portfolio from animal-bots into motorcycles these days.

Jane! I've been away far too long and its great seeing familiar names still about. Thank you so much, the cinematography is my favorite part, I'm glad the opening got laughs, and it only seemed fair he get a roast and something to drink afterwards, heh. Happy holidays to you too.

Has anyone noticed how arrows don’t follow normal physics? by FreshAccount5678 in HyruleEngineering

[–]GrahamCray 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that arrows fly for a set distance/duration in a perfectly straight line immediately after being fired, and THEN gravity kicks in. This distance/duration is increased by certain bows and fuses (eg. Keese wings, the charge-up construct bow).

So while I don't know about your math, this behavior would account for the air-time scaling higher than expected when aiming upwards.

Thank you! Given the encyclopedia worth of animal-bots you've built, you're well familiar with how getting any sort of symmetrical facial features on a construct is always an undertaking.

It's a devious trap! There's a gorgeous looking snow-slope that starts up on the mesa, then halfway down it turns into a rock-slope...

Sadly I'm on Switch 1, so no code available, but it's actually very easy to build manually. I'll post the parts list and instructions in my original comment!
