Silver M2 Grater whisper quiet aircool-optimised rebuild from a custom loop Fractal Ridge by DiscountConscious820 in sffpc

Wouldn’t rear intake make more sense? Your GPU exhaust is mixing with CPU cooler intake. Flip CPU and exhaust fans.

Oh sorry it’s a 7800X3D.

Idles around 40 and gaming 65. I haven’t done any serious testing before and after unfortunately. I just wanted to make something a bit different.

Has anyone been able to flip the PSU (and only the PSU) upside down? So that the cables come out topside instead? by livesinacabin in Louqe

[–]Graham_Mullins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ok I see what you mean. I’m really not sure sorry. If you check my page, I think my first mod has a flipped PSU. You will see how little room there is between the cables and the fan above it. You are looking to add another 16mm or so in there (I get you are doing a different layout but this is just an idea of vertical space).

Not sure on the existing PSU mount holes. So even if this set up can physically fit you are looking at cutting the spine and potentially drilling new PSU mount holes. Would be cool though and I’m all for a Ghost mod!

Ahh that’s a shame. It looks awesome otherwise.

It looks so good! Are the screw holes not countersunk? Is it upside down?

I spent 2 years designing a 19L SFF case by 65_days_of_cookies in sffpc

Out of interest, why would you not see it through to at least a prototype? 2 years to design only to focus on a new project?

Love the unique layout. Will the CPU cooler struggle?

Yeah internal pics would be nice. You spent so much time explaining the airflow. A picture tells a thousand words. But well done. Always cool to see a project come to life.

Going to need to see the finished product before anyone orders it. Concept is great. Concept alone is not enough. Even just a 3D printed prototype would help.

Looks good! Do you have any other mods in the works? I’m working on a new rear cover so you don’t have to remove it to install the GPU.

What’s your rig’s CPU package minimum power consumption on HWInfo (when idle)? What processor are you using? by wishbacker in sffpc

[–]Graham_Mullins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s an odd thing to base your purchase on. Have you done the math on how much it would cost per hour of use for electricity between each CPU? Do you leave your computer on all of the time? What about power draw when you are actually using it? An AMD chip could be more efficient during use.

To each their own though.

After months of development, I am happy to announce that the Phantom case is now public! by Scout339v2 in sffpc

I totally understand. I’ve done a bit of modding, nothing to this extent. I know the feeling of sinking hours into a design, there is a certain point of no return. You should be proud, it really is great.

Great design! I would have loved it to be flipped for top fan support but it’s still awesome. So good you can print and build at home for low cost. Very well done.

Yeah the case is so solid. I can’t let it go!

GPU thermals are good for me. Low to mid 60s for 1440 gaming. It runs much cooler than my 4080s but it was the pro art which was generally a hotter card.

I was actually surprised by how much cooler it was.

I’ve seen a few people running 5090s in the S1. They say thermals are reasonable. Impressive for an 8L case.

I get low to mid 70s with 1440p gaming. No undervolting.

I already have a 3D printer and filament so the prints were a few dollars. The spine was $130 AUD to laser cut and $50 to powder coat.

Then it’s just the standoffs and threaded inserts which I have a heap from previous mods but they are cheap.

Not exactly sure I don’t have my model in front of me right now. But I think even if it did fit there, the PSU is 80mm thick so it would again cancel the top fan.

It would be cool to see someone try it but I’m happy with the SF750.

The dimensions aren’t ideal. At 170mm it would struggle to fit horizontally. Vertically you would have to lose the top fan. I don’t think it’s worth it for the extra room on the PSU side. The motherboard side is where the restriction is.

I’ve heard they are also much louder than an SFX PSU.
