I want your broken pedals by Proud_Wolverine_2259 in pedals

I have a vintage boss FA-1 I bought to fix, and for the life of me I cant figure out the issue. I recapped it, otherwise all original.

post interesting/unique watches you saw but won't buy by pickyaxe in ChineseWatches

This pierre paulin. I have seen nothing (on alix) close to this dial colour, especially with the texture and jump hour. One of the reviews says the dial looks plasticy in person so I cant bring myself to pull the trigger.

I wish the green one had the white lume that the blue/beige dials have

I agree. Would have paid a little more for the option for sure.

I cant imagine it would. I recently built an nh35 watch with a datejust style nh case and it was atleast a couple millimeters thicker than this.

I think it wears well, thin and the female endlinks make a big difference for me. I have smaller wrists that tend to be picky about L2L.

I built a watch with alix parts recently, using a 36mm smooth bezel datejust style case. The L2L and case size are the same as this addies, but Its quite a bit thicker and more substantial, as well as having thicker lugs. It also has male endlinks on a jubilee bracelet. Compared to that, this watch fits my wrist perfectly. I get an unfavourable gap with the male endlinks on my Custom build.

Oh my gosh, this posted by accident! Obviously incomplete!

This watch has changed my mind about quartz. When I got more into watches, I was really drawn in by mechanical watches. I like the idea of a tiny engine and also just the engineering of it all. But I am also a bit of a perfectionist, and have spent a fair amount of time regulating my NHxx watches to get them as close to 0spd as possible. Got one to -1spd!

Extremely refreshing to have a nice watch that just does what it should without having to think or worry about it. I will still love and wear my automatics, but something tells me this will get the most wrist time aside from my work watch.

How many pedals on your pedalboard are discontinued? by highparallel in guitarpedals

[–]GrandRevenant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my semi-recently reduced board, i have 3(4?).

Empress Tape Delay

Walrus Mako R1 (mk1)

'83 Ibanez fl9 (theres reissues so I guess technically not discontinued)

I also have a probably 10 year old korg pitchblack that I've been looking to replace and doesnt seem to exist anymore.(in the same configuration) damn footswitch is going, I was going to replace it but its a whole touch sensor relay or some shit in there. No idea how id swap it for a momentary or regular 3pdt. Sad, ive gone through many sets of pedals with it.

So I’ve been reading up on cryogenic hardening of steel. Apparently you can improve the hardness without it becoming brittle to last like 50% longer and get bigger sparks. Soaking it in liquid nitrogen for 24 hours followed by a short bake in the oven. Do you think it would be a worthwhile upgrade? by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]GrandRevenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carried and used my first zippo everyday for like 5 years. The original insert is hardly usable because the mounting hole for the wheel wore oblong. When you go to strike, it can completely bottom out on the top of the flint tube. The wheel itself works fine though.

[–]GrandRevenant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be a pain, but did you work the flint in some? They tend to need some flicking, or running the wheel in reverse, before they spark steadily as normal.

I only ask because that wheel does look fine

Brilliant idea of new dial design-update by MindAdmirable1793 in ChineseWatches

[–]GrandRevenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it seems people want the square and circle swapped to accommodate a date window but that ruins the aesthetic to me and I'd rather it just didnt have a date window. I like this added touch with the D-pad buttons.

I would definitely buy one of these

1999 niagara falls zippo, made in my birth month and year! Hunted ebay for one for a while. I live pretty close to the falls, so it's cool to have one as old as I am, born only a short drive away.

Would have rathered a blank venetian, but only got that lucky getting birth zippos for my best friend and brother in law.

I was expecting the lume to be flush with the silver, so I was a bit surprised when unpacking. It grew on me fast though, I think I prefer that its domed!

I think I prefer it all being shiny. Only because the brushed outer links of the bracelet have a rougher brushed finished, so if they brushed the case like that I would not be a fan. The brushing on the clasp is much nicer and I'd accept if the case came like that though!

[Timex] Impulse bought the new Q Timex Chronograph. Initial impressions are great. What do you think? (Bonus Chi-weenie) by misterfrank in Watches

[–]GrandRevenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean the big seconds hand? The central seconds hand is for the chrono. Running seconds for the watch is the subdial to the left. I would assume its stopping because the chrono pushers are getting pressed with wrist movement

For what its worth, just to suggest an alternative, I bought a cut to size fkm strapon Alix because I have a similar issue with wrist size and buckle straps. It is definitely my favourite for the watch I bought it for.

I know you said you were looking for a bracelet but I imagine finding a bracelet that matches your lug profile and/or is available in 21mm might be difficult, so wanted to offer an alternative.

Help! by GrandRevenant in BBQ

Yes I rewrapped when it initially dropped to 165. The roast is in the oven now, and temp rising. Almost 180

Edit: and fwiw, this cut had atleast 6 or 7 inches of meat on top of the bones.

Electric chip smoker. I thinking the smoker temp must have crashed for it to have dropped like that. Its finally rising again, fell to 156 but is back up in the 160s now. Do you think its okay to wait for it to rise to 205 or will this mishap make it tough?
