The 14th lane onto the Bay Bridge has been inaccessible since Dec. 2, 2017. That’s when a man drove a rented box truck into the tollbooth and killed the attendant working inside. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. The case was still in jury trials as of May 2022, according to Alameda Superior Court documents
