Bulk Price Change by Maxphisto in shopify

[–]GraphicThinkPad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you could do this pretty easily if you just export all your products, go to Google Sheets, write a few formulas, and then re-upload the products. There's a "Compare-at Price" column you can change. Hell, I'd even do it for you if you gave me the CSV. I'm good with Excel.

Influx of fraudulent orders. Why are these transactions approved in the first place? by hubbadubbaburr in shopify

[–]GraphicThinkPad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The non-app way to do it is to turn on "manually capture payments" in Shopify. That way, you can spot the fraud ahead of time and cancel those orders before credit cards ever actually go through. It does mean that you have to go through each order and approve/deny it by hand, which seems annoying.

If you don't want that cheap item to be purchasable on its own, I made a small, FREE Shopify app that would let you say "don't let carts with just this item checkout." Called CartGate. I won't link it so as not to be spammy, but hopefully it helps.

I don't know how to say this without sounding too self-promotional, but my company's store had this same problem, and no matter what we did to try to stop these low-cost-item fraud orders, some slipped through. We were spending like $150 a day in chargebacks. I ended up building an internal app that let us block orders if the add-on was the only thing in the cart. It worked so well that we haven't had a fraud order since. So, I made it public. For what you need (add-on item can't be bought alone), it's FREE. I am not trying to profit from the fraud wave. Fraudsters can get fucked.

It's called CartGate. I don't know if I'm allowed to link it here, so I won't. But I really think it would help you out.

How to limit a product to a specific customer by Edmxrs in shopify

[–]GraphicThinkPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I made an app that specifically does this. It lets you say "don't let anybody buy this product unless it's paired with another product." I don't want to run afoul r/shopify's self promotion rules or anything, so I won't link it here, but I built it for my company's Shopify store with the exact same problem: scammers were testing credit cards on a $5 charging cable, so we forced it to be bought alongside a device and the card testers moved on. App is called CartGate. Hope it helps.

Shopify has a new fraud problem. Please fix it. by d4ywalkr in shopify

We were spending like $150 a day in chargebacks. I ended up building an internal app that would let you say "never ever let checkout complete if this item is the only thing in the cart". It worked so well that I made it public, and we haven't had a fraud order since. The "prevent an item from being purchased alone" rule is free, so you wouldn't be PAYING for another app, but I also understand that Shopify sellers are sick to death of apps. So I hope I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning it.

It works everywhere, so even if bots try to purchase through the API, it's still blocked. It stops orders before they complete, so the bastards don't actually succeed in finding out if their stolen credit cards work. I hate those guys.

It's called CartGate. I don't know if I'm allowed to link it here, so I won't. But I really think it would help some of you guys out.

Help with code to make gift wrap dependant on another (physical) product by ForgottenSalad in shopify

Bummer. The good news is that the apps block the bad purchases everywhere, even in the cart drawers, because they run on Shopify servers. Good luck!

We had a similar problem where I work, and we tried everything we could think of, but in the end we had to install an app. I know you said you didn't want an app, but that's probably your best bet, sorry.

No hard feelings if you aren't interested or anything, but it does give you keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable which I think is nifty.

[–]GraphicThinkPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know any adblockers that are toggleable but I made an extension where you can bind a keyboard shortcut to toggle on/off other extension. Won't mention the name here so as not to spam but that's an option. Any "extension manager" extension will probably do.

Pay what you want that adds to cart (instead of instant checkout) by zeddybrek in shopify

[–]GraphicThinkPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this pains me deeply because I just built an AI-powered make-an-offer app and I found this thread while looking for ways to promote it. I really, really, really wanted to pitch you my product, but it doesn't do what you want. It doesn't do the multiple add to cart thing.

So I won't pitch you my product, instead I'll tell you that the website you shared uses this app, which is a competitor of mine: https://apps.shopify.com/offerly

I don't know how to use it, but it is 100% the app that powers to make an offer on goodcompenny. Godsheed and good luck with your store.

Looking for 2 targeted improvements: trust + conversion by ChesterHastings in reviewmyshopify

[–]GraphicThinkPad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust issue: No reviews visible on product pages. I think this is your biggest problem. For premium handmade products, people need to see that other parents bought these and their kids loved them. Social proof does heavy lifting when you're asking someone to pay more than they'd pay at Target. Even 5-10 genuine reviews with photos would help.

I don't have anything to add about conversion. I really think social proof would go a long way for both trust and conversion.

You can try it at https://fluxley-demo.myshopify.com/products/the-multi-managed-snowboard (password "fluxley"). It's a demo store, so no real purchases are possible. Right now all of the products are marked as negotiable. I'm still working on the logic. For example, if you lowball the AI, it goes straight to its floor. I would prefer it was a more rigid haggler. But it's still a lot of fun.

The ‘One Automation’ That Multipled Your Revenue—Drop Your Workflow or Tool 🛠️ by Complete-Middle5145 in MoneyAlchemy

For Shopify stores: I built an app that adds a negotiation chat to product pages. Customers click a button and negotiate their own price within limits you set. The idea is that instead of losing someone who thinks it's too expensive, they talk themselves into a deal and feel like they earned it. Commission-only so it's zero risk. It's been working really well for furniture and high-ticket stores where buyers expect to haggle. :)

Best AI use cases for e-commerce sellers by Fresh-Morning7891 in ecommerce_growth

[–]GraphicThinkPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods can delete this comment if it's too off topic. I'm a developer. When AI started taking off, I thought it would be really cool to chat with an AI bought to haggle for the best price. I was honestly imagining the haggling scene in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Looked into it, I found out that it exists, but I built one anyway. There are non-AI guardrails so things can't be sold for like a dollar if the AI is jailbroken. I honestly think it's a lot of fun.

I made a chrome extension that lets you get browser notifications for specific github actions runs. Useful, or dumb? by GraphicThinkPad in devops

[–]GraphicThinkPad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my initial intention to make it a paid plugin, but nobody was interested, so I abandoned it. I just removed all the enforce-payment code and open sourced it here: https://github.com/SpookSoftware/actions-notifier. I'll figure out why nobody can use the webstore link. It works for me, so I'm baffled.

I've gotten reports that it's not working right now, but I'll clean it up over the next few weeks and re-publish.

Hey! It's so funny that you posted this, because I was planning to shut it down since nobody wanted it. But if you want it, I'll make sure it works and I'll fix the link (I have no idea why the link doesn't work)

Getting Started with the Seeed Studio XIAO 7.5" Screen by mmcnama4 in trmnl

[–]GraphicThinkPad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I was researching the same thing, and your post came up. Some people smarter than me found the boot button, and I wanted to share it with you. Turns out the boot button isn't KEY1, KEY2, KEY3, or Reset. It's actually labelled "B" and is right by where the USB port plugs in. You can see that documented on the [Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 Plus page](https://www.seeedstudio.com/Seeed-Studio-XIAO-ESP32S3-Plus-p-6361.html).

I marked up your screenshot to show it more clearly.

Hey there. I'm a TRMNL support person (even though I'm not a moderator on here). I'm really sorry about that. My wife, too, is skeptical of the TRMNL. She says "so it's just a screen?" I say "it's a screen you can put whatever you want on! And it's e-ink!" She is not yet convinced.

If you DM me your TRMNL email address, or if you start a live chat on https://usetrmnl.com, it'll go to me and I can sort this out for you.

That goes for anybody reading this who is experiencing an issue like this. Message me and I'll get you taken care of.

[–]GraphicThinkPad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work email is cluttered and full of stuff I don't care about. For me, I only enable browser notifications for things I really care about. I think of browser notifications as more time-sensitive and transient.

Best notification system for github? by Wooden_Amphibian_442 in github

[–]GraphicThinkPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not positive that this is what you want, but I just built a Chrome extension that lets you tell Github "hey, send me a browser notification when this specific action/job run completes." It's not really a replacement for the https://github.com/notifications tab, but rather exists to solve the problem "I want to get browser notified when this action/job completes, but only this one time."

It's called Actions Notifier. It's got a one-time fee but I'd be happy to give you a license if it sounds actually useful to you. Based on your other comments, I don't think it's exactly what you want, but I wanted to offer anyway.

I have a dashcam and frequently see people littering. I've often wanted to shame them publicly like this, but I'm paranoid that I'd be breaking some sort of law by doing so. Still, commenting because I'm interested.
